Assistant Project Manager – Capital Infrastructure (W-2 Consulting)

Compensation: $55.00 – $65.00 / hour (W-2 Payroll)

Are you a Project Controls Specialist, Analyst, or Assistant Project Manager ready to transition into full project execution with a premier renewable energy developer? We are scaling an elite project management infrastructure group to support a massive, multi-year pipeline of utility-scale Transmission and Battery Storage (BESS) assets in the Greater Chicago area.

This is a long-term, hourly W-2 consulting engagement backed by an extensive capital project layout. This structure offers a highly elevated hourly premium that outpaces standard permanent base salaries for this experience tier, providing a direct "try-before-you-buy" runway to evaluate our executive team before full-time permanent conversion.

Key Accountabilities

• Project Controls & Analytics: Establish, monitor, and update project-level and portfolio-level milestones, schedule definitions, and deliverables.
• Risk & Financial Management: Direct the continuous updating and tracking of project risk registers, cost-mitigation metrics, and project expenditure variations.
• Cash Flow Review: Track project cost performance against established budget baselines, evaluate invoices, and produce accurate cost-to-complete forecasts.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as a back-office communication bridge between engineering, procurement, environmental compliance, and external utility providers.
• Permitting Support: Support advanced project development by tracking and organizing documentation for local, state, and electrical utility permit compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience: 2 to 4 years of progressive project controls, project coordination, or assistant project management experience within a utility, heavy civil infrastructure, or energy ecosystem.
• Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience tracking project deliverables using enterprise construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud) or scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
• Core Competencies: Exceptional financial literacy, data analysis skills, and the capability to synthesize complex engineering data into clear risk reports.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Finance, or Business Analytics preferred.
