Title: Line Cook
Reports To: Kitchen Manager/Asst. Kitchen Manager
Summary:
Accurately and efficiently operate a grill, fryer or flat top station to cook meat, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot food products. Effectively perform the preparing and portioning of food prior to cooking. Ensure the best food quality and plate presentation for our guests every time an order leaves the kitchen; while ensuring proper plating and garnishing of cooked items are always accurate.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares a variety of meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables and other food items for cooking in fryers, on flat top ranges, grills, ovens, broilers and in a variety of other cooking equipment. All of this accomplished in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
- Assumes 100% responsibility to ensure that the food produced is of high quality and served in a timely manner.
- Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, presentation and garnish set up; as well as kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
- Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at all line stations to assure a smooth service period.
- Preparing food for service to include chopping vegetables, slicing/cutting meat or preparing sauces.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, ovens, flat top ranges and refrigeration equipment.
- Handles, stores and rotates all products properly.
- Maintain a positive, professional attitude and approach with coworkers and guests.
- Willingness to help new and current employees to be successful in the Kitchen.
- Closes the kitchen properly, assists others with closing duties while following the closing checklist for kitchen stations.
- Attends all scheduled employee meetings with ideas/suggestions for improvement and efficiency.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one-year experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
- Previous restaurant experience is preferred.
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen staff and front of the house staff.
- Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
- Able to working in a standing position for long periods of time, up to 9 hours.
