Pub Dog is a craft beer and pizza concept with 3 Maryland pub locations and a brewery. We were established in the historic Federal Hill neighborhood of Baltimore in 2001.

We have worked hard to build a great culture and vibe. We are a favorite among service-industry staff and have built a large group of loyal regular customers at all of our locations.

What we’re looking for

Pub Dog is looking for a strong bartender, lead bartender, shift lead, or high-level restaurant/bar employee who is ready to take the next step.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working behind the bar, connecting with guests, staying busy, and helping keep a shift running smoothly, but who also wants to grow into a management role.

You do not need to already be a full restaurant manager. We provide thorough, hands-on management training.

What matters most is that you are hardworking, upbeat, reliable, guest-focused, and comfortable taking ownership during a busy shift.

What this role is

This is best described as a cross-position between bartending and management.

Our managers work full bartending shifts while leading the team around them. You are not standing off to the side managing from a distance. You are behind the bar, on the floor, in the action, and helping set the tone for the shift.

This is not a desk job. If you enjoy being chained to a desk in a windowless office, this is not the job for you.

What we offer

• Managers currently in this position are earning $70k+ per year
• 4-day work week after training
• Training schedule is no more than 5 days per week
• Managers will never work a closing shift and be scheduled before 2pm the following day. Ever.

What you’ll be doing

As you train and grow into the management role, you will learn and take on responsibilities including:

• Bartending and serving guests during full shifts
• Opening and closing the pub
• Helping lead the shift and keep the team moving
• Overseeing the atmosphere, including lights, music, temperature, TV programming, and overall vibe
• Calculating sales
• Tracking payroll
• Counting inventory and doing orders
• Handling repair and maintenance issues that arise during the shift
• Supervising and motivating bar staff, door staff, and kitchen staff
• Solving customer complaints and issues
• Maintaining Pub Dog’s standards for service, cleanliness, teamwork, and guest experience

What we need

We are looking for someone who has:

• Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant, bar, or food-service environment
• Bartending experience preferred
• A strong work ethic
• A friendly, upbeat, guest-focused personality
• Strong communication skills
• The ability to multitask while staying calm and positive
• The ability to listen, learn, and process information quickly
• The desire to take on more responsibility and grow into a leadership role
