Job Summary
The Infrastructure Estimator primarily works closely with the Connext sales team, network engineers, Operations team, executives, and customers to develop and design leading-edge multi-technology solutions for our multi-location (100+) customers. The Estimator also coordinates non-sales resources for SOW preparation, sales calls, and presentations. The Estimator must understand all Connext products and services, including those provided by vendors, to develop a profitable solution.
Additionally, the Estimator may be assigned data analysis or research and development duties as applicable in conjunction with the needs of the Business Intelligence department.
Duties
- Requirements gathering with customers and end users, including traveling for on-site site walks of Customer locations to assess cable environment.
- Developing and writing Proposals, Statements of Work, and RFP responses.
- Estimating and analyzing pricing models for Connext products and services.
- Maintaining relationships and obtaining competitive pricing from vendors.
- Working with the Network Engineering team to develop technical designs for Connext products and services for clients.
- Providing the implementation teams with necessary documentation for the successful completion of the project (pricing model, SOW, high-level design).
- Document management.
- Providing technical expertise on sales calls.
- Maintaining an in-depth level of technical and industry knowledge through ongoing training, seminars, and certifications.
- Traveling, as needed, to industry events, partner and client sites.
- Other projects and duties as required by management.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or information technology or 7-8 years total experience in the cabling installation, design and service field
- 3-4 years of experience in network cable infrastructure installation and design
- 2+ years of experience in customer-facing activities, actively participating and directing calls with customers
- Experience writing proposals and statements of work
- Experience with pricing estimation or quoting
- Experience with network implementations, including LAN/WAN hardware and cabling
- Experience with copper (Twisted Pair, Coax), fiber (ISP/OSP), AV cabling, Telecom room buildouts
- Experience developing solutions using multiple vendors, products, and/or services
- Experience with site installation for both existing and new construction
- Experience reading blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements
- Past Solutions Engineering experience for small to mid-size business a plus
Required Skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Expert at Excel and Word
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure implementation and support, including LAN/WAN, cellular, Wi-Fi, and copper & fiber infrastructure.
- Experience with large-scale cable plant installations
- Experience with BlueBeam PDF
- High confidence and verbal communication skills
- Close attention to detail
- RCDD certification a strong plus
- Experience pricing physical security, video surveillance, and access control implementations a strong plus
- Experience with AutoCAD, Ekahau, iBwave, cellular systems, and WAN connectivity a plus
Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
