Store Manager
Position Description: The store manager is responsible for the general operation of the stores performance, maintenance, and customer relations. The manager in the performance of their duties shall be responsible for the protection and promotion of the interest of Heeter Lumber Inc. in all matters.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· General Expectations:
- Project a positive representation of Heeter Lumber, Inc.;
- When necessary, perform sales floor work such as greeting and assisting customers, stocking shelves, and taking inventory;
- Abide by all city, county, state and federal regulations;
- Verify all money is calculated accurately and deposited daily;
- Check all equipment for proper working condition;
- Ensure the store remains clean and approachable at all times;
- Be able to operate all machinery onsite and be able to process lumber and material for customers; and
- Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies while performing duties safely.
· Inventory & Sales:
- Be knowledgeable of product lines available;
- Be aware of current inventory levels;
- Make inventory orders to replenish sellable items;
- Track purchase orders & deliveries;
- Approve invoices per delivered goods; and
- Oversee and perform annual physical inventory count.
· Customer Relations:
- Maintain & improve customer service relations;
- Greet customers entering and throughout the store;
- Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor and work well with customers and associates;
- Be sure customer calls or requests for information are being taken care of promptly and professionally;
- Customer issues need resolved quickly; and
- Understand the needs of hardware and lumber& building materials customers and look for opportunities to develop relationships and cross-sell products.
· Employee Relations:
- Uphold the safety requirements at the store location / property;
- Implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, as well as conferring with organization officials and staff members as necessary;
- Delegation of employees duties and responsibilities; and
- Provide human resource support including managing time and attendance, performance evaluations, and training and development; and
- Ensure employee time off requests do not overlap to the detriment of the store.
· Corporate Communications
- Communicate with corporate about determined bulk buy items;
- Communicate any problem that requires corporate assistance;
- Maintain warning notices to reflect a continuous performance record of all employees;
- Communicate human resource issues or questions to the current HR manager and all accounts payable or accounts billable questions to the current controller;
- Utilize online calendars to convey delivery / concrete plant information; as well as employee requests for time off;
- Plan store layouts and design displays; and
- Maintain and preserve company property.
Qualifications:
· Minimum 1 -3 years’ experience working in construction, a skilled trade (plumbing, electrician) or other hardware stores;
· Minimum 1 -3 years’ experience working in a retail sales environment;
· Proven ability to coach and manage a team;
· Demonstrated sales experience;
· Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels of employees;
· Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to multitask; and
· Must be able to pass a non-cdl drivers physical.
Things You Need to Know:
· Full time position (40+ hours per week)
· Standard store hours vary between stores;
- M-F: 7:30am to 4:30pm, may adjust seasonally
- Sat: 8:00am-12:00pm
Physical Demands:
· Ability to stand for an extended period of time;
· Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store which entails lifting; and
· Must occasionally lift up to 80lbs (ex: Bags of concrete mix) and climb ladders or stairs to perform duties of the position.
