Position Summary
Microtec Development & Holdings is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in industrial milling, comminution, size reduction, air classification, or bulk solids processing.
This individual will lead the mechanical design, optimization, and continuous improvement of our grinding and classification systems while working closely with our engineering teams in both the United States and Germany. The ideal candidate has designed, maintained, or optimized industrial milling equipment and understands the mechanical challenges associated with high-wear, high-throughput processing environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring both strong design capability and practical manufacturing experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of advanced milling and air classification systems.
- Design rotating equipment including mills, classifiers, conveying systems, feeders, and auxiliary process equipment.
- Perform mechanical calculations for shafts, bearings, drives, gearboxes, couplings, and structural components.
- Improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and manufacturability.
- Develop complete 3D assemblies, fabrication drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
- Work directly with production, procurement, fabrication, and field installation teams.
- Support commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and optimization of processing equipment.
- Conduct root cause failure analyses and implement long-term mechanical improvements.
- Specify mechanical components and coordinate with suppliers and fabricators.
- Review vendor designs and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, and process engineering teams during equipment integration.
- Support technology transfer and standardization across global operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in industrial equipment design.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Grinding or milling systems
- Comminution equipment
- Crushers
- Pulverizers
- Air classifiers
- Powder processing
- Bulk solids handling
- Mineral processing equipment
- Strong understanding of rotating machinery and machine design.
- Experience designing welded fabrications and heavy industrial equipment.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar 3D CAD software.
- Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings and GD&T.
- Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing processes.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as projects require.

Pay: $170,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
