Sales Representative - Business Funding
Job Summary
We are seeking a driven and knowledgeable sales representative in the world of business funding to join our growing alternative lending team.
In this role, you will specialize in structuring and placing Merchant Cash Advances and a full suite of creative financing solutions — including revenue-based financing, split funding, stacking strategies, and hybrid deal structures — to help small and medium-sized businesses access the capital they need.
You will build and manage a pipeline of merchant clients, develop funding relationships, and close deals with speed and precision in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Prospect and develop a pipeline of small business clients in need of MCA funding and creative financing solutions through cold outreach, referral networks, and ISO partnerships
- Analyze merchant cash flow, processing statements, bank statements, and business performance to determine MCA eligibility and appropriate advance amounts
- Structure MCA deals including factor rates, holdback/retrieval percentages, payback amounts, and term lengths tailored to each merchant’s cash flow profile
- Present and educate clients on Merchant Cash Advance mechanics, revenue-based financing, split funding arrangements, and other creative capital structures
- Negotiate deal terms with funding partners and underwriters to secure approvals that align with client needs and business risk profiles
- Manage the full deal lifecycle from application and document collection through underwriting, approval, and same-day or next-day funding
- Develop and maintain relationships with multiple MCA funders, syndication partners, and alternative lending sources to maximize placement options
- Identify and structure creative financing solutions for merchants who may not qualify for traditional MCA products, including hybrid deals, co-funding arrangements, and stacking strategies where appropriate
- Monitor funded deals and maintain ongoing merchant relationships to generate renewals, upsells, and referrals
- Stay current on MCA industry trends, funder programs, rate changes, and alternative financing products to provide merchants with the most competitive options available
Requirements
- Proven experience in MCA sales, alternative business financing, or ISO brokerage — direct funder or broker experience preferred
- Deep understanding of Merchant Cash Advance structures including factor rates, holdback percentages, split funding, and retrieval methods (ACH and split processing)
- Ability to read and analyze bank statements, merchant processing statements, and business financials to assess funding eligibility and ideal advance amounts
- Experience working with multiple MCA funders and navigating underwriting criteria across different funding programs
- Strong deal structuring skills with the ability to creatively solve for merchants with challenged credit, limited time in business, or irregular cash flow
- Knowledge of creative financing instruments such as revenue-based financing, stacking, co-funding, equipment financing add-ons, and hybrid lending structures
- Proven ability to close deals in a competitive, fast-moving environment while maintaining high merchant satisfaction
- Familiarity with MCA CRM platforms, deal submission portals, and document collection workflows
- Excellent communication and consultative selling skills to explain complex financing structures clearly to business owners
- Self-motivated with strong pipeline management habits and a track record of meeting or exceeding monthly funded volume targets
