Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Civil Project Executive to provide executive leadership for major civil infrastructure projects throughout the Carolinas and surrounding markets.
The Civil Project Executive serves as a senior leader responsible for the successful delivery of multiple large-scale projects while driving operational excellence, financial performance, client satisfaction, and strategic growth. This individual will lead project teams from preconstruction through final closeout, mentor future leaders, and play a key role in expanding Metcon's civil construction portfolio.
This position is ideal for an accomplished executive with extensive experience in water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, utilities, heavy civil, transportation, and municipal infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership for multiple civil construction projects from pursuit through warranty.
- Direct project strategy, planning, execution, and closeout while ensuring exceptional safety, quality, schedule, and budget performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, municipalities, engineers, architects, regulatory agencies, and key stakeholders.
- Partner with estimating and preconstruction teams during project pursuit, budgeting, scheduling, risk assessment, and value engineering.
- Lead contract negotiations and proactively manage project risk, change management, and dispute resolution.
- Oversee project financial performance, forecasting, cash flow, and profitability across assigned projects.
- Develop, mentor, and support Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Engineers, and field leadership.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to identify new business opportunities and strengthen existing client relationships.
- Promote a culture focused on safety, operational excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Represent Metcon professionally within industry organizations and community partnerships.
Preferred Experience
Candidates should possess significant experience managing large, complex civil infrastructure projects including:
- Water Treatment Plants
- Wastewater Treatment Plants
- Water Reclamation Facilities
- Pump Stations
- Underground Utilities
- Site Development
- Heavy Civil Construction
- Municipal Infrastructure
- Design-Build and CMAR Delivery Methods
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in civil construction leadership.
- Minimum of 10 years managing large infrastructure projects with increasing executive responsibility.
- Proven success delivering projects exceeding $50 million in value.
- Strong understanding of public procurement, municipal contracting, and alternative delivery methods.
- Demonstrated expertise in project financial management, forecasting, scheduling, and risk mitigation.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and applicable federal, state, and local construction requirements.
