About the Role

The Sr. Application Engineer develops technical proposals for water and industrial projects, including proposing modifications to standard designs and configuring solutions using design and costing tools. Working independently within our water and industrial business unit, you will develop technical responses to customer inquiries.

Essential Functions

• Technical Proposal Development: Collect, understand, and interpret customer requirements for new or operating data from existing systems, and develop comprehensive technical proposals and quotations including equipment descriptions and specifications.
• Customer Collaboration: Screen customer inquiries to ensure required quotation information is present, liaise with sales and customers to obtain missing data, and review or negotiate necessary technical revisions.
• Technical Support: Respond promptly to customer questions and inquiries regarding technical problems and issues, providing reliable technical support and assistance.
• Order Transition: Upon customer order, review and approve the scope of supply and create job files per Sulzer and FRC specifications.
• Complex Problem Solving: Understand and provide solutions to large and complex water and industrial problems, utilizing independent judgment, initiative, and sound decision-making.

Secondary Functions

• On-Site Collaboration: Meet with customers on-site, as required, to review specifications and requirements, present and discuss proposals, and participate in project initiation.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Industry Experience: 4+ years of working experience in the design of biological wastewater treatment systems, with a strong background supporting water and industrial applications.
• Technical Sales: 2+ years of experience in technical sales work with a proven ability to interpret customer technical requirements.
• Core Competencies: Basic understanding of unit operations and wastewater analysis, combined with a strong conceptual system aptitude.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, a self-motivated approach, and strong initiative.
• Organizational Skills: Strong planning, organizational skills, and a willingness to learn.

Travel

• This position does not require regular business travel but may require visiting customers on-site as needed for pilot studies.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $116,550.17 per year
