Director of Communications - POSITION OVERVIEW
Spring Lake Golf Club is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and highly organized Director of Communications to lead all internal and external communications for the Club. This individual will develop, manage, and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that reflects the Club's brand, culture, and exceptional member experience.
The Director of Communications serves as the Club's primary storyteller, creating engaging, accurate, and timely communications across all platforms while preserving the Club's voice, standards, and traditions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Be the primary coordinator of all communication for the Club. Working closely with the General Manager, Department heads, and Committee and Club Leadership.
· The Director of Communications works to achieve the objectives set by the General Manager, Controller and the Board of Trustees and works closely with all parties on a consistent basis.
· The new hire will create the standards of communications policies and procedures, communicate these policies, and ensure that the policies are adhered to.
· The Director of Communications must be detailed oriented and able to tell the story of Spring Lake Golf Club in proper tone, language and through pictures.
· This person must have the highest standard of accuracy and completeness and ensure that all communications have the same approach.
· This Team member must have a proven track record of designing communications and collateral including but not limited to video design and editing.
· The Director of Communications should be well versed in social media and must present engaging content that includes Club branding on all social platforms, websites, and collateral.
· The Director of Communications should be an instrumental part of the SLGC Team and collaborate with the group in orchestrating and communicating memorable and successful member events. From concept, to design, to execution, the team works to create a unique and impressive environment for our membership.
· Work with fellow employees at SLGC to be a partner in communications and information.
· Take ownership of the position and think of themselves as a spokesperson for the Club as well as a high performing team member to reach objectives.
· The Director of Communications holds himself/herself accountable for strategic goals and objectives, and ultimately results. This person must be flexible and adaptable to making changes in existing policies and procedures.
· Have a strong and highly visible and respectful presence with the membership, be an exceptional communicator, and have strong interpersonal skills and the maturity to instinctively know how to treat members and guests with a high-level of service.
· Have a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness, while also maintaining quality and integrity of the Club’s business plan.
· Create and publish the Club newsletter, coordinate, write, proof, set deadlines, collect, organize and edit all copies, layout, and graphic design, oversee production and distribution.
· Create weekly communications and monthly mailings. Schedule, gather, complete and distribute information on a regular basis.
· Website management-Updating with fresh content and photos.
· Committee promotion and assistance- Consult with Club committees, develop and publish monthly and annual calendars, craft recommendations for internal promotions, schedule and collate promotions.
· Create an ongoing marketing plan that will be an active file that is a road map for the storytelling and communication needed at the Club.
· Re-energize the Club’s branding and standards as it relates to Club logo usage with updated
Style Guide for the Club.
KEY CHARACTERISTICS
Educational, Certification and Qualifications needed to be successful:
· A bachelor’s degree from a four-year university or college is highly desirable, preferably in marketing or communication.
· In lieu of the degree, substantial private club or hospitality experience will be considered.
· Knowledge and experience of membership software and websites.
· Excellent track record delivering accurate and timely communications.
· Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to send clear messaging for the Club.
· Impeccable attention to detail.
· Strong computer skills are a must including advanced skills in social media, photography, video filing and editing in Final Cut pro, Photography, Canva, Adobe and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point. Experience in a Private Country Clubs and knowledge of NorthStar are positive.
