DealTeam is representing an operator focused Private Equity Firm in the search for a General Manager to lead its fire protection business in the Southwest US. This is a true operating leader role: full P&L ownership, an entrepreneurial mandate to run and grow the business as your own, and the backing of a sponsor building a multi location services platform across the region.

The Business

A fire protection company in a smaller, remote Southwest market, is one of many recently acquired businesses acquired by this PE firm who is assembling a regional platform in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. The business runs both construction and service work. It holds a strong reputation in its market, has effectively no direct competition, and currently turns away more demand than it can serve.

There is a head of service and a head of construction in place. There is no leader sitting above them. Since the acquisition the business has never had a true operating leader. This is the first one.

The Opportunity

You own the business and take it in whatever direction you see fit. This is an entrepreneurial seat for an operator who wants to build, not maintain. You step into real demand the company cannot currently capture, install the management layer it has been running without, and drive growth.

For the right operator there is a path well beyond this single business. The group is building across the Southwest, and a leader who proves themselves here can grow into running the broader regional platform.

What You Will Own

• Full P&L for the fire protection business, with the autonomy to run it as your own
• Building and leading the management structure across service and construction
• Stabilizing daily operations and installing the basic systems the business does not have today
• Understanding and improving the unit economics of the core work, including the cost and margin of an inspection
• Capturing the demand the business is currently leaving on the table
• Growing the service side and recurring revenue
• Recruiting, developing, and retaining field and office talent
• Over time, expanding scope to drive growth across the group's Southwest platform

Who We Are Looking For

• A strong general operating leader. Growth minded, self motivated, low ego, team player
• Hands on and entrepreneurial. Comfortable in a small business with no playbook and willing to figure it out
• A track record of building structure and growing a business, not just running a steady one
• Someone who respects what already works. This business has succeeded for years. The right leader strengthens it without coming in and breaking it
• P&L ownership experience preferred, but not required.

Location

In person role in a smaller, remote market in the Southwest US (Arizona). The nearest major airport is roughly a two hour drive. Relocation is expected for most candidates, and relocation support can be discussed.

Compensation

Base of 100k to 150k depending on experience, plus a performance bonus tied to EBITDA growth. Equity is earned and vests over time as the leader performs and grows into broader regional responsibility. The firm is open to structuring meaningful upside for someone who delivers.
