Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, tech-forward accounting professional to join our team in a pivotal new role. This position is designed for an expert who can act as the "technical anchor" for our bookkeeping team, elevate our client deliverables to include advisory and Controller-level services, and lead our firm into the future by identifying and integrating AI and advanced automation tools.

Key Responsibilities

1. Senior Technical Support & Client Advisory

• Act as the internal escalation point for the bookkeeping team, resolving sophisticated accounting items (e.g., complex journal entries, revenue recognition, multi-entity consolidations, loan amortizations).
• Step into direct, client-facing scenarios to unpack complex financial situations, provide high-level clarity, and build deep client trust.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews on high-stakes client files to ensure compliance, accuracy, and GAAP standards.

2. Service Expansion & Controller-Level Offerings

• Help design, launch, and deliver our new premium service tiers, including formal financial reviews, cash flow forecasting, and Fractional Controller services.
• Analyze client financial statements to deliver actionable insights, KPI dashboards, and strategic recommendations that help them scale.
• Lead client onboarding for complex accounts, setting up robust chart of accounts structures and clean historical cleanups.

3. AI & Technology Integration

• Evaluate, test, and implement AI-driven accounting software and automation tools to streamline our day-to-day bookkeeping workflows.
• Identify bottlenecks in our current tech stack (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero, Dext, Hubdoc) and introduce modern solutions to maximize team capacity.
• Train and upskill the existing bookkeeping team on how to effectively use AI tools and automated workflows, fostering a culture of continuous tech adoption.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (CPA or EA designation is a strong plus, but equivalent deep hands-on experience is highly valued).
• Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a public accounting firm, bookkeeping agency, or managing multiple client accounts simultaneously.
• Tech Savvy: Advanced proficiency in cloud accounting ecosystems (QBO/Xero) and integrated apps.
• AI Curiosity: Demonstrated interest or hands-on experience leveraging AI tools (like ChatGPT, advanced OCR engines, automated coding tools, or data analytics platforms) to automate manual tasks.
• Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into plain English for both internal team members and small business clients.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
