Reports To: Senior Insurance Claim and Risk Management Manager
The Insurance Claims Manager directs the end-to-end operations of the claims functional area, ensuring operational excellence, financial accuracy, and regulatory compliance. This role oversees the intake, investigation, and disposition of multi-line claimsincluding automobile/trucking liability, workers’ compensation, property, cargo, and subrogation. The Manager serves as a strategic liaison between internal functional area leadership, insurance brokers, TPAs, and legal counsel to mitigate risk and optimize settlement outcomes
Key Responsibilities:
· Claims Lifecycle Management:Oversee the full investigation and settlement process for casualty, property, and workers’ compensation claims; manage litigation and moderate-value settlements in coordination with the Senior Insurance Claim and Risk Management Manager.
o Ensures the timely and thorough claims investigation from the date of accident/injury through to successful closure or settlement. Report all claims timely to the designated TPA.
o Manages the company’s automobile/trucking liability, property, and cargo claims.
o Oversees the evaluation of subrogation claims and recovery on no-fault claims.
o Regularly and timely maintain company claim databases and portals.
o Accurately and timely maintain required spreadsheets, charts and reports for internal and external customers.
o Assists in the annual insurance renewal and audit process.
o Maintains and ensures vehicle asset compliance through timely distribution of insurance ID cab cards.
o Interface professionally with insurance brokers, third party administrators, adjusters, and legal counsel.
o Code and process auto physical damage invoices and update portal with cost
o Submit Check Request through the portal for invoices related to inhouse or property damage claims that are not paid by Broadspire.
o Submit Request for Credit to Accounting for Kroger accounts when a subrogation check is received.
o Track and process claim fees for payment and update portal
o Update employee status in Tenstreet when payroll notifications are sent
· Program Oversight:Administer the company’s workers’ compensation program, including OSHA 300/301 compliance, wage verification, and return-to-work tracking.
o Any OSHA severe work-related injury/incident must be reported immediately to the Director of Safety and to OSHAwithin the required timeframes.
· Financial & Data Integrity:Maintain claim databases, dashboards, and portals; manage subrogation recoveries, process loss-related invoices, and generate analytical reports for stakeholders.
· Operational Compliance:Ensure vehicle asset compliance (cab cards), assist in annual insurance renewals/audits, and support the Safety Department in ensuring best practices for safety and loss control.
· Relationship Management:Act as the primary point of contact for adjusters, field General Managers, internal partners, and external legal teams to ensure timely claim resolution and professional service delivery.
o Send all Work Status reports to adjusters and GMs.
o Request wage information from HR when an employee is losing time and send to adjuster
o Maintain Outlook calendar to track follow up appointments for employees
o Work with GM’s to obtain repair invoices to generate subrogation demands
o Update and generate weekly report for HR detailing employees out of WC for Kroger accounts

Required Skills & Qualifications:
· Education:Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent work experience.
· Experience:Proven background in multi-site transportation management and insurance claims handling with approx. 5+ years’ experience.
· Technical Proficiency:Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel for data analysis and Outlook for calendar management) and electronic transportation platforms (e.g., Tenstreet).
· Core Competencies:Strong negotiation tactics, mathematical aptitude, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of management.
· Physical/Travel:Ability to sit for prolonged periods and travel occasionally for on-site management or investigations.
