RealManage runs the technology that powers how thousands of communities are governed, funded, and cared for. Now we're modernizing that platform into something new: an event-driven, agentic operating system that can run autonomous, agentic processes across the business. We're looking for a Principal Software Engineer to help lead that transformation from the front, not the sidelines.
This is not a role for someone who wants to maintain the status quo or wait for a rigid playbook. It's for an engineer who is genuinely excited about what AI makes possible right now and someone who is opinionated about how software should be built today, rooted in strong principles, and restless enough to keep questioning their own assumptions.
You'll build with AI and you'll build into AI. You'll orchestrate coding agents as core infrastructure to ship faster and better, and you'll architect the event-driven systems and autonomous agentic processes that will define the next decade of our platform. Both matter. Equally.

The principles that define how this team operates. If they make you lean in, keep reading.
-
AI-native, top to bottom. Everyone here builds and ships with AI, from prototype to production. You wield coding agents like Claude Code and Cursor as primary tooling, not a novelty. If a task can be delegated to an agent and verified faster than you can hand-type it, that's the job. Leverage is the point.
-
Agents in the product, not just the process. We're evolving the platform into an agentic OS. Event-driven systems and autonomous processes that reason, decide, and act on behalf of the communities we serve. You'll help architect them from first principles, safely and at scale.
-
Rooted in principles, not dogma. We move fast, but we're not reckless. You reason from first principles, define crisp contracts, constraints, and invariants, and know exactly what "good" looks like before a single line gets written, by you or an agent. Speed without judgment is just risk.
-
Embedded with product. You sit shoulder-to-shoulder with product and design, and you help decide what to build, not just how. The best engineers here shape the roadmap, challenge the brief, and turn ambiguity into shipped value.
-
Experiment relentlessly. The tools change monthly. So do we. You try new approaches, keep what works, and drop what doesn't without ceremony or ego. Curiosity is a job requirement, not a personality trait.
-
Own the outcome, end to end. You design it, build it, ship it, and run it. Accountability is a feature, not a bug. When you own the whole loop, you build better.
-
Set technical direction as we modernize the platform into an event-driven agentic OS, setting architecture, patterns, and the standards the rest of the team builds against.
-
Design and ship autonomous, event-driven agentic processes that solve real problems for the communities and teams we serve.
-
Orchestrate AI coding agents to accelerate delivery and build the guardrails, evals, and review practices that keep agent-generated code safe, tested, and production-grade.
-
Partner directly with product managers and designers to define outcomes, pressure-test ideas, and decide what's worth building.
-
Lead architecture and design conversations that raise the ceiling on scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
-
Present technical decisions and live demos clearly, to engineers and to executives who don't speak in stack traces.
-
Mentor engineers and raise the bar on how the whole team builds with AI, not just what they build.
-
Champion continuous delivery, DevOps, and a culture where shipping value quickly is the default.
Disclaimer
This description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties. The employee may perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions of this position.
The mindset:
-
A builder's bias: you embrace ambiguity, ask sharp questions, and turn vision into working software.
-
Strong opinions, loosely held: principled about engineering fundamentals, hungry to try what's new.
-
Fluency, or a serious, demonstrated commitment to fluency, with AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Cline, Copilot, or similar) as part of how you work.
-
The judgment to know when to trust an agent, when to verify, and when a decision needs a human.
-
Excellent written and spoken communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
The craft:
-
Expertise across multiple languages (C#/.NET, Node.js, or Python) and the ability to move fluidly across the stack.
-
Deep command of REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven, cloud-native design.
-
Strong front-end capability in Angular, React, or a comparable modern framework.
-
Proven experience with unit testing, CI/CD pipelines, and test-driven development, even more essential in an agent-assisted workflow.
-
Hands-on architecture experience with Azure, Kubernetes, and serverless in complex environments.
-
Working knowledge of the SDLC, configuration management, and Agile delivery and the confidence to challenge process that isn't earning its keep.
-
Architect and operate a distributed, multi-cloud environment spanning Azure and AWS designing for resilience, portability, and cost-efficiency across providers through a migration process.
-
Built or integrated LLM-powered or agentic systems: RAG, tool-calling, orchestration, or autonomous workflows - in a real product.
-
Designed event-driven architectures (message queues, streaming, event sourcing) that scale.
-
Used AI-assisted development tools to measurably accelerate delivery and lift code quality across a team.
-
Delivered high-scale systems in regulated or multi-tenant environments.
-
Led monolith-to-microservices or platform modernization from the front.
-
Mentored engineers and raised the technical bar across teams.
-
Turned customer insight directly into product and design decisions.
-
Bring hands-on expertise running production workloads across both Azure and AWS, with a working command of cross-cloud networking, identity, data movement, and the trade-offs of keeping services interoperable across a distributed footprint.
We're not shipping a feature. We're modernizing an entire platform into an agentic OS - and reshaping how an entire organization thinks about technology, with AI at the center. As a Principal Software Engineer, you'll have a rare seat: help lead that transformation, shape our technology and AI strategy, and set the standard for what AI-native engineering looks like here.
You'll work in a place where experimentation is expected, ownership is real, and your voice carries weight. If you want to do the most ambitious and rewarding work of your career, on problems that touch real communities every day, this is the place.
