Looking for a cleared systems hacker with edge AI experience. Must have an active, verifiable TS/SCI clearance. Location: Reston, VA.
If you are a "buzzword bingo samurai" who loves corporate fluff and 100-page manuals, skip this post.
We are a tiny, bootstrapped, defense tech shop building unique capabilities for the Intelligence Community (IC). We don't have layers of management, and we definitely don’t have time to micromanage.
We need a Founding Systems Hacker & Edge AI Engineer who loves to execute ideas, try concepts, and hack around with open-source tools to make things work. If you have a homelab in your closet, a GitHub full of half-finished passion projects, and a deep love for Linux, you're our person.
We are a bootstrapped startup. We are revenue-backed and client-funded, but work can ebb and flow. It can be chaotic—slow one day, and incredibly fast the next. You have to be okay with that environment.
What You’ll Actually Do:
Air-Gapped Sorcery: Take local AI/ML models (LLMs, Vector DBs, OCR, multi-modal models) and stitch them into ruggedized field hardware with absolutely zero internet connection.
Wrangle Hardware: Fight with CUDA configurations and optimize GPU acceleration across high-end RTX rigs, tactical laptops, and NVIDIA Jetson units.
Build & Deploy: Translate vague user requests from IC customers into working software realities. You’ll build the prototype and show the customer how it solves their problem.
Keep the Lights On: Because we are small, you'll spend a little bit of time making sure our internal tech stack and secure networks are running smoothly and compliantly.
Who You Are:
U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance. (Non-negotiable).
A Genuine Tinkerer: You don't just code for a paycheck. You build things in your free time because you can't help yourself.
Linux Competent: You know terminal environments, package dependencies, and containerized deployments like the back of your hand.
Self-Reliant Go-Getter: You don't need constant reassurance. You see a problem, figure out a tool that might fix it, and hack it together.
Unbothered by Chaos: When a client requirement changes, you look at it as a fresh opportunity to build something new.
What We Offer:
Zero Red Tape: If a tool works, we use it. No committee meetings, no corporate sign-offs.
Real Impact: What you build goes directly into the hands of operators solving high-consequence national security problems.
Massive Upside: We are building this from the ground up. You get a seat at the table and immediate leadership opportunities.
Competitive base salary + 15% SEP IRA company contribution (Direct retirement backing from day one) + Equity options.
We are looking to act fast. If this resonates with you, send a resume to tau.zero@veloxresearch.com. Include what you want to work on and your salary requirements.
