Role:
The Senior SQL Server Database Developer/Administrator owns the SQL Server data tier supporting the organization's Appian-based case management platforms, including database administration, ETL processes, data corrections and migrations, and delivery of entity relationship diagrams and data dictionaries required as recurring contract deliverables.
Duties:
The Senior SQL Server Database Developer/Administrator will:

Administer and develop SQL Server databases, including Database Engine, SSIS, and Service Broker components supporting Appian-based applications and integrated systems.

Deliver and maintain updated Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) and data dictionaries, with updates issued for each release impacting the database schema and final versions delivered at the end of each period of performance.

Perform data corrections, refreshes, and migrations as required or requested by the COR.

Monitor and maintain scheduled ETL processes, batch jobs, and system services; track performance metrics, report results, and escalate issues as appropriate.

Apply database security patches and remediate POA&M findings affecting database components.

Perform logical and physical data modeling using Erwin or equivalent modeling tools.

Support source control management of all database code, scripts, and migration artifacts, ensuring they are properly maintained in the designated repository.

Support IV&V and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities related to database changes and deployments.

Collaborate with application development teams to support database performance, reliability, and scalability requirements.

Maintain technical documentation related to database architecture, configurations, and change management activities.
Education:
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's degree preferred. Additional years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for education requirements.
Required Experience and Skills:

This position supports a U.S. federal government program. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or lawful permanent residents and be able to successfully complete any required federal background investigation.

Minimum eight (8) years of SQL Server administration and development experience, including SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Service Broker.

Demonstrated experience with logical and physical data modeling using Erwin.

Experience with data migration, data correction activities, ETL design, and troubleshooting.

Working knowledge of Appian backend database structures and integration requirements.

Experience with Git/GitHub, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines supporting database deployments.

Experience managing database updates, patching activities, and implementation of security controls

Experience with Azure SQL and Azure cloud administration concepts.

Experience delivering Entity Relationship Diagrams and data dictionaries as contract deliverables.

Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and database optimization skills.
Preferred Skills:

Microsoft SQL Server certification (MCSA, MCSE Data Platform, or Azure Database Administrator Associate).

Prior federal agency experience.

Familiarity with NIST security controls applicable to database systems.

Experience supporting large-scale enterprise case management, workflow, or transactional systems.
