Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager with a strong background in textiles, fabric development, and factory management in India. This role will be responsible for driving new business opportunities, building and maintaining customer relationships, managing vendor and factory partnerships, developing a comprehensive fabric library, and supporting seasonal trend development from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
· Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the home textile or lifestyle product sectors.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, mills, and manufacturing partners.
· Manage communication between customers, internal teams, and factories in India to ensure projects move smoothly from inquiry to delivery.
· Oversee factory relationships, including production capabilities, sampling timelines, costing, quality expectations, compliance requirements, and delivery schedules.
· Partner with Indian factories, mills, dyers, printers, and finishers to source and develop fabrics that meet customer needs, price targets, and market trends.
· Create, organize, and maintain a fabric library, including woven, knit, printed, embroidered, embellished, sustainable, and specialty fabric options.
· Lead seasonal trend development by researching color, material, construction, print, pattern, finish, and market direction.
· Translate market trends into commercially viable textile concepts.
· Work closely with design, sourcing, product development, merchandising, and production teams to support sample creation and bulk execution.
· Prepare and present product, fabric, and trend presentations to customers and internal stakeholders.
· Negotiate pricing, minimums, lead times, and development terms with suppliers and customers.
· Track sales pipeline, customer feedback, fabric developments, sample status, and production follow-up to support business growth.
· Monitor competitor activity, emerging textile technologies, sustainability developments, and shifts in global sourcing markets.
· Ensure all developments align with quality standards, customer requirements, ethical sourcing expectations, and delivery timelines.
Qualifications
· 5–10+ years of experience in business development, sourcing, product development, or merchandising within the textile, apparel, home textiles, or lifestyle product industry.
· Proven experience working directly with factories, mills, vendors, and production teams in India.
· Strong understanding of textile construction, fibers, fabric finishes, printing, dyeing, embroidery, embellishment, and production processes.
· Experience developing and maintaining fabric libraries, material archives, swatch systems, or seasonal development tools.
· Ability to identify market trends and translate them into relevant fabric and product development opportunities.
· Strong commercial mindset with experience managing customer relationships, pricing, costing, negotiation, and sales follow-up.
· Excellent communication, presentation, organization, and project management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple customers, factory partners, developments, and deadlines simultaneously.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with PLM, Adobe tools, or product development systems is a plus.
· Bachelor’s degree preferred

The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented business development professional with deep textile knowledge, strong India factory experience, and the ability to connect creative trend direction with commercial execution. They should be comfortable working across design, sourcing, sales, and production, and should bring a strong network of factory, mill, and customer relationships.
Preferred Skills
· Experience with sustainable, recycled, organic, or responsibly sourced materials.
· Knowledge of global textile markets, trade shows, buyer expectations, and seasonal development calendars.
· Strong eye for color, texture, pattern, and fabric hand-feel.
· Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed for factory visits, customer meetings, and market research. Travel 4+ times per year

· Accurate, organized, and regularly updated fabric library.
· Strong factory performance across sampling, costing, quality, compliance, and delivery.
