Job Summary
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, deployment, and sustainment of advanced command and control and situational awareness systems.
This role serves as the technical bridge between software development, hardware integration, networking, and customer operations. The Systems Engineer will work closely with software developers, government customers, and field users to define system requirements, integrate sensors and communications systems, validate system performance, and support operational deployments.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving multidisciplinary engineering problems, working with emerging technologies, and seeing systems transition from concept through operational use.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers, software engineers, and operational users to define system requirements and technical solutions.
- Develop system architectures, interface definitions, and technical documentation.
- Integrate software with sensors, radios, tactical communications equipment, and external systems.
- Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems in laboratory and field environments.
- Support integration of geospatial data, tactical messaging, and operational command and control systems.
- Develop and execute system integration, verification, validation, and acceptance testing.
- Interpret and implement Interface Control Documents (ICDs), system specifications, and government requirements.
- Assist with system packaging, deployment automation, and installation procedures.
- Support customer demonstrations, field testing, exercises, and operational deployments.
- Troubleshoot hardware, networking, software, and integration issues in operational environments.
- Support configuration management and system documentation.
- Participate in Agile development activities, technical reviews, and design discussions.
- Provide technical support and training to customers during deployments and operational events.
- Assist in evaluating emerging technologies and recommending system improvements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 3–8 years of experience in systems engineering, systems integration, defense engineering, or related technical roles.
- Experience developing system requirements, interface documentation, and technical designs.
- Experience integrating hardware and software into operational systems.
- Working knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
- Experience interpreting technical specifications and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% in support of customer meetings, demonstrations, testing, exercises, and deployments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Department of Defense or other federal government programs.
- Active U.S. Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
- Experience with command and control (C2) systems.
- Experience integrating radar, RF sensors, ADS-B, EO/IR cameras, UAS, or other operational sensor systems.
- Experience with TAK, ATAK, or TAK Server.
- Familiarity with Cursor on Target (CoT) messaging.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or containerized deployments.
- Experience with VMware or virtualized environments.
- Familiarity with Git, Gradle, or modern software development workflows.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or PostGIS.
- Familiarity with tactical communications systems, MPU5, Silvus, or similar networking technologies.
- Experience supporting field testing, operational demonstrations, or military exercises.
- Experience developing verification and validation plans or systems engineering documentation.
Pay: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
