An Index technical writer is at the center of the creation of our eBooks and collaborates with Index photographers, videographers, graphic artists, project managers and app engineers to produce digital products that are transforming our client’s workforces. An Index technical writer is responsible for outlining, writing, and editing text content, building relationships with clients at their job sites across the United States, and assisting in directing and producing media content, such as photos and videos featuring our client’s workers and team members. The ideal Index candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment and able to wear multiple hats.

The position is open to applicants with a wide range of job experience levels, from 0-15 years of experience.

Responsibilities

· Writer - Outline, organize, and write long-form text content.

· Researcher – Work with technical client source material and perform supplemental outside research.

· Communicator – Build relationships with client instructors, students and subject matter experts.

· Producer – Go on site with the Index media team to capture the most relevant client content.

· Editor – Provide editorial notes on video and text content.

· Travel (25%) – Travel to a variety of client locations within the United States for video and photo shoots.

Requirements

· Have a college degree in a writing-heavy discipline (Technical Writing, Instructional Design, English, Journalism, etc.) and/or STEM field (Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, etc.). Other college degrees will be considered if applicability to the position can be shown.

· Be a team player and willing to work in a “servant leader” culture.

· Have the willingness and capacity to continuously learn new skills and information.

· Have demonstrated ability to absorb and write about technical information.

· Be a self-starter who can recognize what needs to be done and operate proactively. Must be able to readily adapt to evolving circumstances on a project and resolve conflicts as they arise.

· Be able to manage workflows of a writing schedule and remain on schedule.

· Be able to lift 50 pounds.

Additional Details

· Experience working within graphic design and/or layout software such as Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

· Familiarity with video production and photography is a plus.

· Hybrid Position: After an initial training period and with manager approval, this position can work from home 2 days of the week.
