Overview

We're looking for a creative and detail-oriented Public Relations Assistant to support media relations efforts across a variety of clients and industries. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in public relations, journalism, communications, or marketing who enjoys storytelling, media outreach, and identifying newsworthy angles.

This role is primarily focused on earned media and requires someone who is proactive, organized, and excited by the challenge of securing press coverage. Responsibilities are streamlined and centered on the core functions of a modern PR agency.

Responsibilities

• Brainstorm creative, timely, and newsworthy story ideas for clients.
• Research trends, holidays, seasonal moments, and cultural conversations to develop media opportunities.
• Draft compelling media pitches tailored to journalists, producers, editors, and influencers.
• Build and maintain targeted media lists using research tools and online databases.
• Conduct media outreach via email and follow up with journalists on active pitches.
• Respond to incoming media inquiries and coordinate requested information, interviews, or assets.
• Track outreach efforts, media responses, and earned coverage.
• Monitor industry news and identify opportunities to insert clients into relevant conversations.
• Assist with basic administrative tasks related to media relations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship or experience in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
• Experience creating media lists or conducting media outreach.
• Familiarity with media databases such as Cision, Muck Rack, Roxhill, or similar platforms.
• Experience using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail) and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of AP Style is a plus.
• Experience with project management tools such as Asana, Trello, or Monday.com is a bonus.

Pay: $40.00 per hour

Work Location: Remote
