People Leader / Assistant Manager
Drip Coffee – Watertown , Brookings & Lake Norden, SD
Drip Coffee is looking for someone to lead our team. Not someone who wants to sit in an office all day. We’re looking for someone that can be a stellar boss while helping us hit our metrics and grow at the same time (this takes skill!)
Right now, Drip has three locations. This role leads all three.
You’ll be the barista’s best boss ever while helping our day-to-day not be a total disaster. We want you to help Drip grow as if things go well we may be open more locations in the future.
Drip is a family-owned business started by Tawni Smith, and she cares about having a coffee shop where the girls LOVE their job and the customers want to keep coming back. Tawni is a mom of a large family, and she wants you to be able to take over the day to day responsibilities including scheduling and inventory and handling the barista's problems and communication.
What This Job Is
You won’t be expected to work the espresso machine every day (although knowing coffee is a bonus). Your job is to be a leader for the team. We will be curious about what that means to you.
What We're Looking For
You do not need coffee shop experience. What matters most is that you know how to lead people.
We're looking for someone who can:
· Come in as the “new boss” and build rapport and respect
· Be bold & clear when giving directions
· Hold people accountable without them hating you
· You don’t become a frazzled mess when things get stressful
· You know how to teach/coach people up
We want someone the team likes and respects.
But also someone who isn’t afraid to say: “Hey, this needs to get better.”
Both need to be true at the same time.
Numbers That Matter
You’ll help keep an eye on things like:
· Store revenue
· Customer reviews
· Speed of service
· Staff retention
· Consistency of service
You don’t need to obsess over spreadsheets. But you do need to care about results.
Things You'll Probably Like About This Job
· You get to lead a team and help people grow
· The owners actually care about you and the employees
· Once you can prove your skills, you’ll have a ton of control
· You'll help shape the future of the company (we really need help with this)
· If Drip grows and opens more locations, this role will grow too
Things You Might Not Like
Leadership isn’t always easy.
· Sometimes with “entry-level” positions, there can be drama. It will be your job to make it go away for good.
· Sometimes you’ll manage baristas who are young and working their first job, so you’ll need patience while teaching them how things work.
· Sometimes you’ll have hard conversations when people aren’t doing their job.
· You might need to have that heart-pounding “firing” conversations sometimes.
· Some days will feel busy or chaotic when all stores need your attention.
Pay & Benefits
Base Salary: $40,000-50,000 Performance Bonus based on store results
If Drip opens new locations, this role will likely expand as well.
