Classification: Lab Technician

Pay Range: $25 - $32

Reports to: Milling and Packaging Superintendent and Lead QC Lab Technician

Grade: Grade III

Education Req: High School Diploma or GED required

Experience Req: Must have ability to follow MSHA and OSHA regulations, industry safety programs, and possess excellent communications, people, and problem-solving skills. Must be willing to take and follow orders and directions. Must be adaptable and flexible to changing tasks, schedules, and situations. Must be able to perform physical labor, including lifting and carrying of heavy objects. 2+ years of prior experience working in labs or milling and/or manufacturing environment is desired. Will be required to work nights and/or adhere to a rotating shift schedule.

Nature and Scope:

With direction and supervision from the Milling and Packaging Superintendent and the Lead QC Lab Technician, this hands-on individual will be responsible for performing quality testing on intermediate and finished products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform testing such as: free moisture, particle size and purity testing on raw gypsum and ground land plaster, particle size, combined water, consistency, set time, and compressive strength of stucco/hemihydrate, vicat set, consistency, compressive strength of plaster products.

Attend Safety Meetings and comply with all site safety and environmental policies

Obtain samples from Mill. Calcination, and Packaging areas as required.

Recommend adjustments to Mill, Calcine, and Packaging Operators based on test results.

Daily/Weekly activities to maintain housekeeping in the lab and organization of all lab equipment and testing devices.

Assisting Mill, Calcining, and Packaging Operators as necessary with upset conditions such as machine malfunctions, plugged equipment, jams on packaging line

Accurate record keeping and reporting of all test results

Ensure compliance with calibration calendars for all testing equipment

Issue Certificates of Analysis for finished products as required

Communicate clearly and effectively with other team members.

Troubleshoot and problem solve issues with little guidance.
