About Weedoo Greenboat
Weedoo Greenboat, Inc. is a Stuart, Florida-based manufacturer of aquatic weed harvesters and amphibious workboats. Built in Stuart and working in 41 states and 21 countries, Weedoo helps governments, service providers, and private owners remove invasive vegetation, algae, and refuse from waterways without carcinogenic chemicals. We operate a vertically integrated 30,000 square foot facility with in-house composites and are actively expanding into powder coating.
Weedoo is a Governor’s Sterling Award Silver recipient, a GrowFL Florida Companies to Watch honoree, and a 2026 SFMA Manufacturer of the Year finalist.
Position Summary
The Production Manager owns the shop floor. You will lead the build team, own daily and weekly output against the production schedule, drive down actual-versus-projected build-time variance, keep the team safe, and build redundancy so that no single person is a single point of failure. You will run the floor with Six Sigma discipline — measure, analyze, improve, control — and partner with Purchasing, Engineering, and Sales to hit ship dates.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Production Output
- Lead a multi-disciplinary build team across welding, composites and fiberglass, rigging, electrical, hydraulic, final assembly, and QA. Set daily and weekly production plans; run daily stand-ups and weekly production reviews. Own the actual-versus-projected build-time tracking system (Asana, iPads, and production spreadsheets) and hold the team accountable to build hours per boat and per attachment. Hire, train, evaluate, and coach direct reports; write and enforce shop-floor standard operating procedures.
Safety
- Own the Weedoo safety program end-to-end, including OSHA compliance, PPE, lockout/tagout, hot work, confined space, forklift, hoist and crane, respiratory protection for composites work, and chemical handling for resins, solvents, and powder coating. Chair a monthly safety committee, run regular toolbox talks, investigate every incident and near-miss, and drive corrective actions to closure. Maintain the Safety Data Sheet library, training records, and OSHA 300 and 300A logs.
Redundancy and Workforce Depth
- Build and maintain a skills matrix for every station and ensure at least two qualified operators are trained on every critical station. Design and run a cross-training program with documented sign-offs so that vacations, illness, or turnover never stop a build. Maintain succession notes for every key role, including your own.
Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement
- Apply the DMAIC methodology to the highest-cost sources of build-time variance, rework, and scrap. Lead at least one formal Six Sigma project per quarter with a documented baseline, improvement, and control plan. Track statistical process control on critical characteristics, including weld quality, laminate thickness, torque, hydraulic pressure test, and final float and attitude. Partner with Engineering to reduce variation at the source through fixtures, jigs, poka-yoke, and standard work.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Work with Purchasing to keep the line fed by flagging stockouts, expediting critical shortages, and driving min/max discipline. Work with Sales and order management to confirm ship dates and communicate slips early. Support service escalations until fully transferred to a dedicated service lead.
Performance Expectations
You will be measured against the following targets:
Performance Metric
Target
Build-time variance (actual vs. projected)
≤ 10% by end of year 1; ≤ 5% by end of year 2
On-time ship rate
≥ 95%
Recordable incident rate
0 recordables; ≤ 2 near-misses reported per employee per year
First-pass yield (post-QA, pre-water-test)
≥ 95%
Cross-training coverage
≥ 2 qualified operators for every critical station
Six Sigma projects closed
≥ 4 per year with quantified savings
Production team turnover
Less than 15% annually
Required Qualifications
- Seven or more years in manufacturing operations, with at least three years directly managing a production team of 15 or more in a discrete-manufacturing environment. Marine, aerospace, heavy equipment, powersports, or RV backgrounds are preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt certification required; Black Belt strongly preferred. Demonstrated OSHA and EHS ownership. You have personally written safety programs and closed OSHA findings. Working knowledge of welding, fiberglass and composites, hydraulics, and 12/24 volt DC systems — enough to challenge the team, though not necessarily to do the work yourself. Fluency with production tracking tools such as Asana, ERP/MRP systems, and spreadsheets, and comfort presenting data to executives. Strong written and verbal English. Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification from ASQ, IASSC, or an equivalent body. Marine, amphibious equipment, or off-highway vehicle manufacturing experience. Experience bringing a process in-house. Weedoo is next targeting powder coating. Familiarity with the ISO 9001 quality management system.
