Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Histotechnician to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality tissue specimens for microscopic examination.

Duties

• Prepare and process tissue samples for histological examination, including embedding, sectioning, and staining using laboratory tissue sectioning techniques.
• Perform laboratory tissue sample preparation following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations to ensure compliance and quality control.
• Operate and maintain medical laboratory equipment such as microtomes, and staining machines with proper technique.
• Collaborate with medical professionals on specimen collection/processing and provide support related to patient care when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment ensuring compliance with safety standards related to laboratory procedures and physiology knowledge.

Qualifications

• NYS Clinical Lab License or Histology License
• Prior clinical laboratory experience or research laboratory experience with a focus on histological techniques is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory tissue sectioning, histological laboratory techniques, and pathology testing processes.
• Experience with laboratory tissue sample preparation, laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) for specimen tracking and documentation.
• Hands-on experience with medical laboratory equipment such as microtomes, cryostats, staining machines, and other histotechnology tools.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathology principles relevant to tissue analysis.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to ensure accuracy in specimen processing.
• Hospital or healthcare setting experience is advantageous; certification in phlebotomy or related fields is a plus but not mandatory.

Pay: From $50.00 per hour
