The hours for this position are as follows: If interested in part-time, hour options would be Friday and Saturday 12 hour shifts days or nights or 24 hour shift Friday or Saturday. If interested in full-time, hour options would be would be 24 hour shift Friday or Saturday along with a 12 hour night weekday shift.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
A. Obtains complete, detailed, and accurate histories, reviews patient records, and performs complete physical examinations as scheduled or required.
B. Performs general patient examinations related to the patient’s stated medical problems to establish diagnosis and develop an appropriate care plan.
C. Rounds on patients ensuring all lab work, diagnostic results are communicated to the patient and providers as appropriate.
D. Complete all documentation in patient care record accurately and timely.
E. Requests appropriate laboratory and radiological procedures related to patient’s condition to assist in diagnostic assessment. Interprets results as appropriate with review of physician.
F. Requests appropriate therapeutic pharmacological regimes related to the patient’s diagnosis and condition and instructs patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions.
G. Performs routine therapeutic procedures including injections; care of superficial wounds and burns; removal of foreign bodies from skin; application of and removal of sutures and casts; and other procedures as appropriate.
H. Recognizes and evaluates situations which call for immediate attention of primary care physicians and institutes, when necessary, treatment procedures are essential for the life of the patient.
I. Instructs and counsels patients regarding their physical and mental health including diet, social habits, family planning, normal growth and development, aging, and long term management and understanding of patient’s disease.
J. Adheres to EMTALA guidelines.
K. Follows universal precautions/infection control policies. Uses appropriate personal protection equipment and work practice controls when necessary; uses sterile or aseptic techniques when required.
L. Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to all OSHA and infection control policies.
M. Satisfactory completion of on-the-job orientation and competency skills checklist.
N. Regular and reliable attendance.
O. Ongoing compliance with DCH educational and training requirements.
P. Adheres to the DCH Mission, Values, Vision, and Standards of Behavior.
Q. Maintains patient and hospital confidentiality.
R. Promotes and maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors, coworkers, and providers.
S. Actively participates in department huddles, in-services, meetings, and educational opportunities.
T. Follows all departmental policies and procedures and adheres to departmental budget.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Technical Skills:
Ability to operate essential equipment and perform essential procedures in nursing department. Demonstrates knowledge, abilities and skills required to perform a wide variety of nursing functions. Mathematical ability is necessary to compute drug dosages accurately. Annual completion of unit specific competencies.
PC Competencies:
The incumbent must demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of the Windows environment as well as the ability to access and use information in meaningful ways. The incumbent must have the ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in meaningful ways using email, word processing, excel, and power point. CPSI knowledge and resources.
