About This Job
Duties and Responsibilities
USPS Contract Mail Carriers deliver mail to homes and businesses in rural areas across the nation. Our Carriers travel on planned routes, deliver mail and parcels, obtain signatures, and collect outgoing mail along the way. Delivery occurs regardless of the weather, although schedules may be delayed.

Other responsibilities include: sorting mail in delivery sequence for active mailboxes, loading mail and parcels in delivery sequence into a delivery vehicle, delivering mail to customer boxes along assigned line-of-travel and other administrative duties as required.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age
• Able to lift 70 lbs
• Able to work in all weather conditions
• Driver's License
• Must have two full years of driving history with a good driving record
• Reliable SUV or larger vehicle with 4x4 (See Minimum Vehicle Requirements below)
• Experience preferred

Minimum Vehicle and Insurance Requirements
The U.S.P.S. imposes certain requirements for vehicles on contract routes. Here they are:

• A dependable vehicle providing 120 cubic feet of usable load space. Think mid-sized SUV or minivan. All-wheel-drive or 4-wheel-drive is required. Can be of any age as long as it is in good physical and mechanical condition.
• $100,000 / $500,000 / $100,000 or $600,000 (CSL) of liability insurance.
