Position Overview
Martin Environmental Services is seeking an Operations Manager to lead daily collection operations across residential, commercial, and roll-off services.
This role is responsible for driver leadership, route performance, safety, and service execution — ensuring routes run efficiently and customers are taken care of the right way.
This is a hands-on leadership position, not a desk job.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage drivers and helpers across assigned routes
- Ensure routes are completed safely, efficiently, and on time
- Respond to:
- Missed pickups
- Service issues
- Equipment breakdowns
- Work with maintenance to ensure fleet readiness and uptime
- Monitor and improve:
- Route efficiency
- Stops per hour
- Route density
- Adjust routes to improve performance and reduce costs
- Partner with sales to ensure safe and serviceable new accounts
- Communicate directly with customers to resolve issues when needed
- Track and manage labor hours, disposal costs, and route performance
- Support hiring, training, and development of drivers
Safety & Culture Leadership
- Lead from the front on safety — no exceptions
- Identify and eliminate unsafe conditions on routes
- Enforce safety policies and accident prevention programs
- Build a culture where:
- The team supports each other
- Problems are addressed quickly
- Accountability is expected

Qualifications
- 3+ years Manager experience (waste industry preferred)
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience managing:
- Drivers and field personnel
- Route-based operations
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, changing environment
Requirements
- Class B CDL with Air Brake endorsement (required)
- Ability to work early mornings and some weekends
- Willingness to be in the field daily (not office-only)
Physical & Work Environment
- Combination of field and shop environment
- Outdoor work in all conditions
- Active role — walking routes, interacting with crews

Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
