Role Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering Lead is responsible for leading the Manufacturing Engineering team and supporting the successful execution of manufacturing across the business. The team owns the development of manufacturing instructions, tooling requirements, and shop floor support activities that enable products to be built safely, efficiently, and consistently. This role is responsible for organizing, prioritizing, and assigning work across the Manufacturing Engineering team while ensuring manufacturing documentation and production support activities are delivered in alignment with program, quality, and customer requirements.
Working closely with Program Management, Project Engineers, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and customers, the Manufacturing Engineering Lead will remain hands-on in manufacturing engineering activities while supporting and developing the team. This role offers an opportunity for early leadership responsibility, real ownership of manufacturing processes and work instructions, and the satisfaction of seeing engineering concepts translated into high-quality products across a diverse range of aerospace programs.
Skills and Responsibilities:
· Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team, providing support, guidance and troubleshooting issues.
· Manage Manufacturing Engineering resources, capacity, and workload planning to support program schedules and production demands.
· Develop and maintain manufacturing plans, tooling concepts, work instructions, and manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
· Partner with Program Management, Project Engineers, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering to ensure manufacturability, schedule adherence, and successful product delivery.
· Author production-ready work instructions: photo-rich travelers with cure parameters, QA checkpoints, callouts, and clear acceptance criteria.
· Quality & compliance: support inspection, lead NCR root cause as requested and maintain AS9100 discipline within your team.
· Champion a collaborative and solutions-oriented culture that promotes teamwork, accountability, fun and continuous improvement.
