Job Title: Power BI Developer (Cybersecurity)
Location: Remote (Offsite-eligible, U.S.-based); occasional on-site support as required
Clearance Required: Active Secret preferred; must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier 3 (T3) / IT-II background investigation
Employment Type: Full-Time
Overview
Cornerstone Technology is seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to support a large Department of Defense enterprise cybersecurity program for our government customer. For this position, we are hiring a Cybersecurity Data Visualization Engineer to turn complex cybersecurity data into dashboards and visuals that leaders actually use to make decisions. If you can take messy data from a dozen systems and make it clear, accurate, and compelling — heat maps, dependency diagrams, executive dashboards — this role is built for you.
This is a remote-eligible role on the cybersecurity architecture and planning team. Day to day, you will integrate data from sources such as ServiceNow, eMASS, SharePoint, and Microsoft Project Server into Power BI dashboards that show architecture maturity, compliance status, Zero Trust progress, and modernization milestones — and you will be responsible for the accuracy of those visuals for performance and leadership reporting.
You’ll support one of the Department of Defense’s largest enterprise environments, spanning approximately 15,000 network and endpoint devices, hundreds of mission applications, and globally deployed identity management systems.
Candidates with a data visualization, business intelligence (BI), dashboard development, data analytics, or reporting-engineer background are strongly encouraged to apply. This role is classified under a contract labor category as Software Engineer; the work is cybersecurity data visualization, dashboarding, and reporting.
What You Will Do
Dashboard & Visualization Development (~35%)
- Design, build, and maintain executive and operational dashboards that present key metrics, risk indicators, compliance status, and strategic initiative updates
- Create visual representations of cybersecurity posture and modernization progress — heat maps, dependency diagrams, and Zero Trust pillar overlays
- Provide real-time reporting on request and support monthly senior-leadership briefings
Data Integration & Automation (~30%)
- Integrate data from ServiceNow, eMASS, SharePoint, Microsoft Project Server, SQL databases, APIs, and other enterprise data sources into Power BI dashboards.
- Recommend and implement automation of data updates using APIs, automated data transfers, and process improvements
- Ensure data pipelines are reliable and that underlying metrics are traceable to source data
KPI & Metrics Support (~20%)
- Help design, develop, test, and implement KPIs and metrics covering cyber risk posture, Zero Trust roadmap progress, modernization, DevSecOps, and continuous authorization (cATO)
- Review existing KPIs and recommend updates that better measure performance against strategic goals
- Maintain formal KPI tracking documentation and update it as directed by leadership reviews
Accuracy, Architecture Alignment & Reporting (~15%)
- Ensure visualization accuracy for performance (PRS) and compliance reporting
- Align dashboards and visuals with enterprise architecture artifacts (e.g., Sparx) and Zero Trust pillars, capabilities, and activities
- Deliver data-informed guidance on cyber risk, mitigation strategies, and posture trends to support leadership decisions
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret preferred; must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier 3 (T3) / IT-II background investigation
- U.S. citizenship (required for CAC and DoD network access)
- 3+ years of experience in data visualization, business intelligence, or dashboard development
- Strong hands-on experience building dashboards with Power BI (preferred) or similar enterprise BI platforms such as Tableau or Qlik.
- Experience integrating and transforming data from multiple sources (APIs, databases, exports) into clean, reliable datasets
- Proficiency with data modeling and query languages (e.g., SQL, DAX, Power Query)
- Ability to translate complex technical data into clear visuals for executive audiences
- Strong attention to data accuracy and traceability
- CompTIA Security+ (or ability to obtain within 30 days of start) to meet the DoD 8140/8570 baseline
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building dashboards from cybersecurity or IT data sources such as ServiceNow, eMASS, or vulnerability/compliance tooling
- Familiarity with DoD Zero Trust pillars and cybersecurity posture/maturity reporting
- Scripting and automation experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for data integration and pipeline automation
- Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Project Server reporting
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture tools (e.g., Sparx Enterprise Architect)
- Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300) or a similar BI/data certification
- Experience supporting a large-scale DoD IT operations program in a federal/DoD environment
