Job Summary:

Lucky Cheetah, a newly established dim sum restaurant in Portland, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. The Prep Cook will assist in the preparation of various ingredients, menu items, and mise en place, ensuring high-quality dishes are consistently delivered to our guests. This position plays a crucial role in supporting kitchen operations and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare ingredients and components of dishes according to recipes and specifications.
• Assist in cutting, chopping, peeling, and slicing vegetables and fruits.
• Measure and portion ingredients accurately for cooking and baking.
• Marinate, season, and cook proteins such as meats and seafood as directed.
• Prepare sauces, dressings, and garnishes.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas, refrigerators, and storage areas.
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
• Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure efficient and timely preparation of menu items.
• Follow recipes, portion control guidelines, and presentation specifications.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Prep Cook or similar role in a restaurant or culinary environment.
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils.
• Understanding of food safety practices and proper handling techniques.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy trays and containers.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Culinary school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Working Conditions:
