The Applications & Analytics Team (A&A), a division of School of Medicine Technology Services (SOMTech), supports all aspects of the mission of the School of Medicine and certain overlapping functions of partner institutions including VCU Health System and MCV Physicians by designing, developing, and maintaining web applications and data services that provide critical support for education, research, clinical operations, and administration. As part of this team, the Software Engineer plays a key role in delivering secure, scalable, and maintainable software solutions that support the needs of faculty, staff, students, and healthcare partners.
A central responsibility of this role is designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting enterprise applications throughout the software development lifecycle. The Software Engineer will collaborate closely with business analysts, product owners, quality assurance analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, implement new features, troubleshoot issues, and enhance existing systems. This position will contribute to application architecture, code reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement efforts to ensure solutions meet established standards for quality, performance, security, and reliability.
The Software Engineer reports to the Assistant Director for Application Development and works across a varied portfolio of applications supporting the education, research, and clinical missions of the School of Medicine, MCV Physicians, and the VCU Health System. Through technical expertise, innovation, and collaboration, this role contributes to the successful delivery and ongoing support of technology solutions that advance the strategic objectives of the institution.

While we offer hybrid work arrangements, candidates must reside in Virginia or be willing to relocate to Virginia prior to their start date at their own expense. Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000
