WHAT YOU WILL DO:
This position provides technical support on all models of Haeger and PEMserter machines, tooling, and components—including automated and semi-automated insertion systems—applying skills and experience in hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, and basic controls/automation. Technical service is delivered to the customer via telephone, electronic communication, and on-site in the field as required.
- Perform the full scope of the Haeger/PEMserter Service Technician role with a minimum of supervision.
- Commission, install, troubleshoot, and maintain Haeger and PEMserter products, including automated insertion cells, automatic fastener feed systems, and robotic- or gantry-equipped machines.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic failures; support PLC, HMI, servo/VFD, sensor, and vision-system issues on automated equipment, and validate solutions through testing.
- Follow prints, schematics, electrical/pneumatic diagrams, instructions, and bills of material to assemble and integrate machines and sub-assemblies.
- Test components individually and as complete assemblies—including automated sequences and safety interlocks—for proper and standard function as specified.
- Travel to customer locations to perform commissioning, integration, and service calls, including support for automated production lines.
- Exercise independent judgment and creativity in solving customer technical and automation problems.
- Generate documentation for internal and external technical and sales staff on service updates, automation configurations, and corrective actions.
- Provide product and basic automation training to Haeger/PEMserter distributors, representatives, and customers as required.
- Estimate repair costs for machines and tooling and quote the customer accordingly.
- Identify opportunities to improve service processes, machine uptime, and automation reliability.
- Take initiative in support of customers, distributors, and fellow team members, maintaining a high degree of professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.

Requirements:
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent; technical certificate or associate degree (electrical, mechatronics, automation, or related field) preferred.
- Experience: 2–4 years' experience in a technical customer service or field service role, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Solid troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems.
- Working familiarity with automation components—PLCs, HMIs, servo/VFD drives, sensors, and/or machine safety circuits—or a strong aptitude and desire to develop these skills.
- Ability to read and apply prints, schematics, and electrical/pneumatic diagrams.
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); Salesforce or other CRM platform experience a plus.
- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capable of working independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience with Haeger and PEMserter equipment.
- Hands-on experience with automated machinery, robotics, or integrated production lines.
- Exposure to PLC programming/diagnostics (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI configuration, or industrial networking.
- Experience training customers and distributor personnel.
- Familiarity with service project coordination and parts logistics.
- Technical certifications or formal training in hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, or automation/controls.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Travel requirement of 75–100% per month, Monday through Friday, to customer sites.
- Infrequent weekend travel for trade shows or urgent customer needs.
- Observes all safety regulations in the performance of all duties.
- Detects and reports faulty machine operation, defective material and workmanship in parts and component drawings, bill of material discrepancies, parts shortages, and other unusual conditions to either the service or quality teams.
- Confers with department supervision and Engineering, as necessary, resolving questions and other operating or assembly issues.
- Maintains workplace area in a neat and orderly condition daily.
- Collaborates with other assemblers and department personnel to transmit and exchange information pertinent to the work at hand.
Compensation: $29.24 - $38.29 per hour
