Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – Shop Floor
Griffin Welding CT
Griffin Welding fabricates structural steel for highway, bridge, and traffic infrastructure projects for states across the US, and we're looking for a Certified Welding Inspector to join our shop floor team. This is a great fit for a CWI who wants to work on high-visibility DOT and AASHTO projects with a shop that takes quality seriously.
Responsibilities:
Inspect welds on the shop floor for compliance with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 codes, AASHTO/DOT specifications, and AISC practices. Conduct material inspections, fit-up inspections, visual weld inspections, and final sign-offs on completed work. Work directly with third-party inspectors and state representatives during shop inspections. Assist the Quality Manager with quality paperwork, documentation, and AISC compliance records. This is a hands-on shop position working alongside welders and fabricators throughout the fabrication process.
Requirements:
Active AWS CWI certification, familiarity with D1.1, D1.5, AASHTO, and DOT welding requirements, ability to read and interpret welding symbols and blueprints, and comfort working alongside third-party inspectors and state reps. NDT certification is not required but is a major plus and will be put to use if you have it.
What we offer:
Competitive pay ($115,000–$130,000/year), health insurance, PTO, 401(k), and a stable Monday–Friday day shift schedule.
