NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to support the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical systems for spaceflight hardware and ground support equipment. This role plays a vital part in advancing propulsion technologies, structural systems, and mission-critical components for NASA’s exploration programs. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to bring innovative engineering solutions to life.
Essential Job Duties
Design and analyze mechanical components and assemblies for aerospace applications.
Develop 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
Perform structural, thermal, and dynamic analyses using simulation tools.
Support fabrication, integration, and testing of flight and ground hardware.
Conduct failure analysis and implement design improvements.
Ensure compliance with NASA engineering standards and safety protocols.
Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to meet mission requirements.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
2 + years of experience in mechanical design, analysis, or testing (aerospace experience preferred); Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or Siemens NX)
Familiarity with FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) and engineering calculations
Must be a US citizen
Physical Demands

Skills and Attributes
