MILLWORK / CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR
OVERVIEW:
This position will be responsible for developing project cost estimates for custom commercial architectural millwork projects. Estimators manage all aspects of estimating from preparation to submission to kick-off meetings with internal teams. Project costs are determined using specifications, drawings, and job specific requirements. Estimators utilize a variety of computer software applications to develop the bids and subsequent proposals.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpret architectural drawings and blueprints in order to perform take offs and estimates for customer projects
- Analyze specifications, blueprints and supporting documents ensuring all items are identified and included on the customer quotation
- Determine and calculate quantities of materials specified for projects
- Create and prepare cost estimates for projects which can range from less than $10,000 up to $10,000,000
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing support where needed and continually seeking new opportunity with our customer base
- Actively and professionally collaborates in the activities of cost estimating as a function of sales, project management, purchasing and production prep
- Maintains organized estimate files with all documentation related to a given estimate
- Develops and maintains a library of sources, information and pricing
- Follow up with open estimates until awarded
- Efficiently works within internal systems to track project statuses
- Freely shares all resources and costing information as may be required by other departments or individuals within the company
- Timely request vendor/specialty supplier quotes
- Ad hoc budgeting/estimating projects as requested by senior management
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Wood Technology, similar or related work experience
- Minimum 3 years experience estimating construction or architectural millwork projects
- Experience working with construction take-off software
- Experience reading construction drawings, specs, and scope documents
- Experience in Innergy ERP a huge plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Working knowledge of AWI standards custom millwork fabrication
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to work as a part of a team and independently
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
