Heavy Equipment Operator (Earthwork, Utilities )

We are seeking an EXPERIENCED, highly skilled, and motivated Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment across mass earthwork, fine grading, trenching, utility installation, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, production, and quality.

This position is ideal for operators who take pride in their work, lead by example, and are willing to contribute both in the seat and on the ground when needed (Team Player).

Key Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment including:
• Dozers, Excavators, Scrapers, Motor Graders
• Tractors & Pans
• Off-Road Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Backhoes
• Perform work in the following areas:
• Mass earthwork
• Overburden removal and stripping
• Fine grading and finish work
• Trenching and working around live utilities
• Benching, sloping, and excavation safety practices
• Gravel placement, subgrade prep, and road base construction
• Read and interpret plans, grade stakes, and highway specifications
• Maintain proper grade, slope, and elevations with high accuracy
• Work safely around crews, traffic, and active roadway/job sites
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
• Assist with manual labor tasks when required to support the crew
• Maintain consistent productivity while meeting quality standards

Qualifications

• Experience in earthwork, and underground utilities strongly preferred
• Ability to work around live utilities safely
• Ability to read plans, grades, and highway specifications
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)
• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
• Physically capable of performing labor tasks as needed
• GPS Experience (Preferred)

Requirements

Safety Sensitive Position

• 3+ years of heavy equipment operating experience (Required)
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have the ability to work extended hours as required by the workload.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in all types of terrain.
• Able to meet all physical requirements such as standing, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to work around loud noises and can tolerate being exposed to odors, gases, dust, etc.
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, in confined spaces, and in excavated areas.
