We are seeking a Senior Operations Planner for our Victor NY location.

As a Senior Operations Planner, you are responsible for analytical problem definition within operations and practical operational problem resolution.

Responsibilities

• Provide decision making and implementation for general operations improvements from sales order entry, through production and shipment.
• Support ongoing enhancement of ERP system tools and methods to align production and sales plans and forecasts to actuals; effort intent is to increase margin of success and reduce performance risk.
• Tune and iterate ERP parameters to optimize inventory supply assurance supporting standard lead time.
• Negotiate with vendors for lead-time, price, and terms.
• Monitor sales order and production status and intervene with appropriate personnel when risks to planned order timing or quality are identified; Analyze labor and material supply/demand conditions for gaps and risk between plan and forecasted actual.
• Identify and analyze material costing, supply timing, and supply quantity variance; use the same feedback to improve methods and resolve latent process defects.
• Facilitate product configurational change timing in the context of supply and demand, timing and technical risk, with inputs defined through our change management system in collaboration with technical and manufacturing personnel
• Support finance transaction operations related to planning, supply, procurement and production.
• Guide planning, procurement and manufacturing process personnel as applicable to resolve operational gaps, variance and to implement required change. Participate in, and support, these processes, inclusive of outside supply chain interactions where applicable.
• Train, develop and lead other personnel where an experience differential is applicable; develop process and documentation as practical.

Core Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in an OEM manufacturing, or similar environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or technical subjects, or similar cumulative credentials supporting manufacturing or business operational efficiency.
• Data analysis, collection, conclusions and reporting ability; including understanding time of supply and lead-time dependencies.
• Understanding of product structure and configuration (BoM, routing, labor content, costing) and ability to manipulate the same.
• Competence with ERP, manufacturing principles and methods; Competence with computing tools (Excel, Power BI, other) and standard business communication tools.
• Communicate effectively with differing disciplines and experience levels based on a given situation.
• Self-motivated and able to independently take and facilitate action in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to form documented plans, take action and form conclusions within an individual and group context, forming consensus where necessary

Desired Qualifications

• Background in a technical field, instrumentation or optics helpful.
• Supervisory or managerial experience is beneficial due to the lead / teaching aspects of this role.
• Experience with operational frameworks and methods such as Lean, Kaizen, TQM, etc.; Experience with documented quality management systems (ISO, etc.)
• Experience with external vendor facilitation, particularly fabrication, electronic and optical commodities.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
