Job Description
The Rotational Procedure Advisor is responsible for ensuring operational procedures are accurate, compliant, practical, and aligned with field operations. This position serves as a critical liaison between field personnel and documentation teams by validating procedures in operational environments, gathering feedback from subject matter experts, and supporting the development of high-quality procedural documentation.
The successful candidate will leverage extensive field operations experience to assess procedural effectiveness, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure procedures accurately reflect operational requirements, safety expectations, and industry best practices. This role requires frequent travel to field locations and close collaboration with operations personnel, technical writers, and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Travel to field locations to support procedure validation, verification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review draft procedures to ensure compliance with established procedural standards, work practices, and operational requirements.
- Collaborate directly with field Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather operational knowledge and validate procedural content.
- Support the development and refinement of task analysis documentation and operational work practices.
- Evaluate procedures for accuracy, completeness, usability, and effectiveness in real-world operating environments.
- Facilitate discussions with field personnel to ensure documented procedures accurately reflect current operating practices and constraints.
- Partner with technical writers and documentation teams to incorporate field feedback into finalized procedures.
- Ensure finalized procedures are clear, concise, actionable, and aligned with applicable operational standards.
- Identify procedural gaps, inconsistencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement through field observations and reviews.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by incorporating lessons learned and operational feedback into procedure updates.
- Act as a liaison between field operations and documentation teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Assist with procedure implementation, rollout, and user adoption efforts as needed.
- Participate in operational reviews, audits, and compliance initiatives related to procedural effectiveness.
- Promote safe work practices and operational excellence through accurate and effective documentation.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 10–15 years of field operations experience in industrial, energy, manufacturing, or other high-risk operational environments.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE), Person In Charge (PIC), operations supervision, or similar operational leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of procedure management systems, work practices, and operational documentation standards.
- Experience reviewing, validating, and improving operational procedures.
- Strong understanding of operational risk management, safety practices, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to translate complex operational processes into clear and effective procedural guidance.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and project coordination abilities.
- Proven ability to work effectively with field personnel, SMEs, technical writers, and leadership teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to procedural accuracy.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in dynamic field environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with procedure development, verification, validation, or technical documentation programs.
- Familiarity with Operations Integrity Management Systems (OIMS), procedure governance frameworks, or equivalent operational management systems.
- Experience facilitating task analysis workshops and operational risk assessments.
- Background in operations, maintenance, production, drilling, completions, facilities, or process operations.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives within regulated industries.
- Knowledge of human performance principles and operational excellence practices.
Work Environment
- Field-based role with frequent travel to operational locations.
- Regular interaction with operations personnel, supervisors, subject matter experts, and documentation teams.
- Combination of field verification activities and office-based documentation review.
- Exposure to industrial and operational environments requiring adherence to safety protocols.
- Requires flexibility to support multiple locations and operational schedules.
Job Details
Pay/Schedule: 5 days on 2 days off schedule pay is $150/hr
14 days on 14 days off schedule pay is $79.03/hr
Equivalent amounts for the year total with OT.
Location: Midland, TX
Pay: $79.03 per hour
