Fredericksburg Orthopedic Associates (FOA) is a thriving, high-volume, multi-specialty orthopedic practice of 30+ providers proudly supporting Mary Washington Healthcare through a direct Professional Services Agreement (PSA). We serve the Fredericksburg and Stafford communities—located just outside the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area—and are seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to support our Orthopedic Surgeon in the clinic as part of our expanding team.

Position Overview

This non-surgical Physician Assistant role is primarily clinic-based and focuses on providing comprehensive care to Orthopedic patients in collaboration with the supervising Orthopedic Surgeon.

• Schedule: 4.5-day workweek
• Setting: Orthopedic outpatient clinic
• Primary Focus: Supporting the Orthopedic Surgeon in all clinic-based patient care
• Patient Mix: New patients, follow-ups, pre-ops, post-ops, and non-operative care

Key Responsibilities

• Independently evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with spine and general musculoskeletal conditions
• Conduct detailed histories and physical exams, focusing on spinal pathology
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies (X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, labs)
• Perform in-clinic procedures such as injections, splinting, and casting (as appropriate to training and scope)
• Manage pre-operative and post-operative visits for surgery patients
• Provide patient education regarding conservative and surgical treatment options
• Document thoroughly in the EMR and support clinical workflow optimization
• Collaborate closely with the Orthopedic Surgeon to enhance productivity and patient access
• Assist in triaging patient calls, clinical questions, and care coordination
• Partner with physicians, PAs, PT/OT teams, and other clinical staff to ensure high-quality, integrated care

Job Requirements:

· Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university.

· Must be eligible for or have a current Virginia license.

· Must be or near achieving NCCPA certification.

· Valid DEA license.

· Orthopedic experience preferred.
