Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Controls Technician to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance of complex control systems, optimizing robotic systems and automation equipment that drive our production processes. Your expertise in electrical, mechanical, and automation systems will ensure optimal performance, safety, quality, and efficiency across our facilities. Duties

• Maintenance and Repair: Leveraging the technical drawings, ensure tolerances and specifications, perform routine maintenance tasks on robotic systems, including inspections, lubrication, calibration, and component replacements, to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and programming issues to minimize downtime and prevent production disruptions.
• Programming and Configuration: Program and configure robotic controllers, PLCs , HMIs, and other automation equipment to perform specific tasks according to production requirements. Modify robot programs, tooling setups, and operating parameters to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and cycle times. Must have EPSON / FANUC software and programming language knowledge.
• Troubleshooting: identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues related to robotic systems and automation equipment to ensure uninterrupted production and optimal performance. Ensuring that equipment meets established quality assurance specifications. Programming and troubleshooting PLC programs, Robotic path programming, troubleshoot all equipment related to injection molding machines, indexing tables, servo drives, hydraulic power units. Review schematics for electrical and pneumatic circuits using AUTO CAD software and communicate/advise to the maintenance personnel regarding fault analysis. Review the Operator Interface Controls, adjust and modify as required to meet process requirements.
• Integration and Commissioning: Assist in the integration, installation, and commissioning of new robotic systems and automation technologies within the manufacturing facility. Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and external vendors to ensure seamless integration, functional testing, and performance validation of robotic equipment.
• Operational Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to production operators and maintenance teams in operating robotic systems safely and effectively. Train operators on proper equipment use, maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and emergency shutdown procedures to enhance productivity and minimize risks.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, standards, and guidelines governing the operation of robotic systems and automation equipment. Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards and ergonomic risks associated with robotic operations.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance data, troubleshooting logs, and spare parts inventory. Generate reports, work orders, and maintenance schedules using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other software tools to track equipment status and maintenance history.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and Kaizen events to drive efficiency gains, process optimizations, and cost reductions in robotic operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices, standardize procedures, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, quality assurance personnel, and maintenance technicians. Communicate openly, share information, and work together to achieve common goals and objectives.

Skills

• 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing, engineering, or technical fields is beneficial. This may include internships, co-op programs, or part-time jobs where individuals gain exposure to industrial environments, automation systems, and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting.
• Technical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills are essential for understanding robotic systems, sensors, actuators, and control systems. Familiarity with electrical circuits, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems is also beneficial.
• Robotics Knowledge: 2+ years’ experience with robotics principles, kinematics, dynamics, and control theory. Understanding of robotic programming languages such as Robot Programming Language (RPL), ladder logic, or other proprietary languages used by robot manufacturers.
• Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and programming issues in robotic systems. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other testing equipment to identify and resolve problems.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer operation and software applications used for robot programming, control, and diagnostics. Knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software for interpreting robot schematics, layouts, and assembly drawings.
• Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols and procedures when working with robotic equipment. Knowledge of safety standards such as ISO 10218 and ANSI/RIA R15.06 for industrial robots.
• Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to interact with team members, engineers, supervisors, and vendors. Ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Willingness to learn new technologies, techniques, and best practices in robotics and automation.
