Primary responsibilities

• Lead and supervise underground utility crews on assigned projects.
• Coordinate daily work with Superintendents, Project Managers, inspectors, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Plan daily job tasks and assign work to crew members.
• Ensure employees have the tools, materials, and equipment needed to complete the job efficiently.
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, and grade stakes.
• Monitor production, quality, and job progress while adjusting as needed.
• Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Conduct daily safety meetings and maintain required documentation.
• Train, mentor, and develop crew members.
• Communicate employee performance, project updates, and jobsite needs to supervisors.
• Coordinate equipment scheduling and perform daily equipment inspections.
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained, secured, and safely operated.
• Solve field challenges while maintaining production, safety, and quality standards

Qualifications & Specialized Training requirements

• Previous experience as an Excavation or Underground Utility Foreman required.
• Strong knowledge of water, sewer, and storm utility installation.
• Experience operating heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, compactors, and graders is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and utility plans.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to effectively manage crews and jobsite productivity.
• Valid driver's license required (CDL preferred but not required).
• Current First Aid/CPR certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.

Physical Demands

The Foreman has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects. The Foreman will have to work in all weather conditions, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold. The Foreman must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient way.

Environmental Conditions

(The nature of adverse environmental conditions affecting the incumbent)

The Foreman must work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. He/she may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.

The Foreman must work independently and is expected to maintain a schedule of work. Any problems or inconveniences may result in increased stress to complete tasks in a limited time.
