We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and customer-focused Inside Sales Representative to join our team in Conover, NC.
Position Overview
This position combines mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and industrial automation to support the design and development of custom polymer processing equipment.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on all aspects of machine design, including mechanical systems, electrical controls, automation, PLC programming, testing, and troubleshooting. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys designing real-world equipment and seeing projects through from concept to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Engineering
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components for industrial equipment
- Create detailed 2D and 3D models, equipment layouts, and manufacturing drawings
- Apply GD&T principles to ensure accuracy, manufacturability, and quality
- Generate and review fabrication, machining, and assembly drawings
- Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with prototype development, testing, and design validation
Electrical & Controls Engineering
- Design electrical control systems and develop electrical schematics
- Select and integrate sensors, motors, drives, heaters, and instrumentation
- Assist with PLC programming, HMI development, and machine automation projects
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls-related issues during testing and production
- Support machine startup, commissioning, and controls optimization
Equipment Integration & Testing
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Participate in equipment testing, validation, and performance verification
- Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of mechanical and electrical issues
- Ensure systems meet performance, safety, and customer requirements
Documentation & Quality
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings, and revision records
- Develop bills of materials and technical documentation
- Perform quality checks to ensure compliance with PSI standards
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to product performance and manufacturing efficiency
Customer & Service Support
- Provide technical support to customers and internal service personnel
- Participate in occasional field service visits, equipment startups, and customer training
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding technical issues and solutions
- Maintain detailed records of engineering and service activities
Qualifications
Required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with mechanical design and industrial equipment
- Ability to read and create mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
- Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software (Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Preferred
- Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation systems
- Experience with HMI development and controls integration
- Familiarity with VFDs, sensors, motor controls, and industrial electrical systems
- Knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes
- Experience with custom machinery, automation equipment, or industrial manufacturing
- Familiarity with polymer processing, extrusion, or related industries
