Job Title: Lead Electrical Engineering Technician
Location: Overland Park, Ann Arbor, Houston, Phoenix, Raleigh, Chattanooga, Chicago, Jacksonville or Gaithersburg.
Contract Length: 6-month contract
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week
Pay Range: $75/hr - $80/hr (DOE)
The Staff Electrical Engineering Technician supports the design and development of complex power generation infrastructure projects. This role collaborates with multidisciplinary engineering teams to produce high-quality 2D and 3D electrical design deliverables for large-scale facilities. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in power generation design and is proficient in Bentley MicroStation, with expertise in electrical systems such as duct banks, cable trays, grounding, and lighting.
This position serves as a lead technical resource, ensuring design quality, adherence to project schedules and budgets, and coordination across engineering disciplines.
- Develop and modify detailed 2D and 3D electrical design drawings using Bentley MicroStation and other Bentley design tools.
- Create electrical design deliverables for power generation facilities, including:
- Duct bank layouts
- Cable tray systems
- Grounding systems
- Lighting systems
- Equipment layouts
- Apply engineering principles and established design practices to produce accurate, high-quality deliverables.
- Establish and maintain drawing standards, graphic standards, and document control procedures.
- Review project requirements and ensure deliverables comply with project specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate design activities across multiple engineering disciplines to ensure consistency and integration.
- Monitor production schedules, budgets, and deliverable quality throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate project requirements, design progress, and schedule updates with project teams and stakeholders.
- Support field activities as needed during project execution.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineering technicians and support staff.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of design tools, workflows, and software applications.
- Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience supporting electrical design for power generation or heavy industrial projects.
- Strong proficiency with Bentley MicroStation.
- Experience designing:
- Duct bank systems
- Cable tray systems
- Grounding systems
- Electrical equipment layouts
- Experience producing 3D models for electrical systems and equipment.
- Strong understanding of engineering drafting standards, quality control, and project documentation.
- Ability to work independently while leading technical design efforts.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Design Technology or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with AGi32 for lighting analysis and illumination calculations.
- Experience supporting advanced power generation, utility, or industrial infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of BIM and advanced 3D design workflows.
