Title: Communications Coordinator
Status: Non-Exempt, Full Time
Reports to: Director of Advancement
THE POSITION

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of PRO Youth’s communication strategies. This includes organizational communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization’s brand reputation through various print, email, and online materials. The Communications Coordinator uses written, multimedia, and video storytelling to create innovative and engaging content in support of the organization’s goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In collaboration with and under the supervision of the Director of Advancement, the Communications Coordinator will:
Content Creation
- Coordinate and capture the organization’s internal and external photography and videography to create content for program support, fundraising, grant applications, marketing, and other promotional purposes. This position requires occasional evening and weekend attendance at organizational events to document activities and create communication content.
- Produce communication materials including graphics, brochures, flyers, fact sheets, and other print/electronic publications.
- Support programs with presentations, collateral, materials, and development of stories to further awareness and engagement.
- Assist with drafting press releases and coordinating media communications as directed.
Digital Communications
- Maintain the organizational website, ensuring content remains accurate, current, user-friendly, and periodically reviewed for enhancements.
- Maintain organizational social media channels by creating content, publishing timely posts, engaging with followers and partner organizations, and monitoring emerging trends and best practices.
- Oversee external email communications, including creating PRO's monthly newsletter, event information, fundraising campaigns, and other materials as needed.
Brand Management
- Assist in maintaining and updating the organization’s Brand & Style Guide.
- Ensure brand standards are consistently applied across print materials, publications, and communication channels.
- Periodically conduct brand audits to ensure compliance with brand standards.
- Coordinate the design, ordering, and inventory of branded promotional materials and merchandise.
Organizational Support
- Create and execute organizational communications calendar.
- Support Advancement in designing and planning philanthropic campaigns, grant applications and reports, and other communication materials and metrics as needed to support the organization’s fundraising efforts.
- Collaborate and coordinate with multiple departments to develop materials, presentations, reports, proposals, and other items, as needed.
- Maintain the communication department’s reporting and records, including monthly social media and website metrics and other department activities and engagements.
Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICIATIONS

Experience:
- Assisting in the creation and implementation of communication strategic plan.
- Experience planning, writing, editing, graphic design, newsletter production, press releases, annual reports, marketing literature, and other print and digital communications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or similar graphic design software.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field.
Skills & Knowledge
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to concisely communicate messages via various communication channels.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively utilize emerging communication technologies, including AI tools, to improve efficiency and communication outcomes.
- Demonstrated creativity and thoughtful use of media technologies to maximize communication impact.
- Innovative thinker with experience implementing strategic plans into action and deliverables.

LOCATION AND HOURS

Our typical business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. This position requires flexibility to meet organizational needs. Availability outside of standard hours, including evenings and weekends, will be required to support operations, events, or urgent matters.
This position is based in our Sacramento offices with an expectation of regular in-person presence to support our team, operations, and program development. Remote or hybrid work arrangements may be approved on an individual basis, aligned with organizational needs and leadership approval.
