Job Title: Residential and Light Commercial Department Manager

Position Overview:
The Residential and Light Commercial Department Manager is responsible for leading RMS’ residential and light commercial rainwater harvesting and water reuse division and managing house accounts. This role combines system design, estimating, customer education, account management, sales growth, internal coordination, and department organization. The manager serves as a technical and customer-facing resource for homeowners, contractors, engineers, architects, distributors, and representative groups while ensuring that each project is quoted, designed, and supported in alignment with client needs, project specifications, RMS standards, and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating, Design, And Technical Documentation
- Create accurate estimates and proposals for residential and light commercial rainwater harvesting and water reuse projects.
- Review client-provided information, plans, specifications, fixture counts, intended uses, site conditions, and project requirements to ensure quotes and system recommendations meet the overall design intent.
- Design water reuse systems for potable and non-potable applications, including above-ground and below-ground system configurations.
- Develop general system schematics, written specifications, and P&ID-style diagrams to clearly communicate equipment selection, flow paths, controls, treatment requirements, and system operation.
- Coordinate with RMS technical, drafting, sales, and support staff as needed to confirm sizing, equipment selections, quote accuracy, and project deadlines.
- Maintain working knowledge of system components including tanks, pre-filtration, pumps, pressure tanks, post-tank treatment, UV disinfection, controls, cooling jackets, and related package options.
Client Education, Sales Support, and Presentations
- Provide educational and informative presentations through video calls and in-person meetings for homeowners, engineers, architects, contractors, distributors, representative groups, and other interested clients.
- Clearly explain rainwater harvesting system concepts, project requirements, design considerations, treatment options, maintenance expectations, and the benefits of water reuse.
- Support direct sales growth within the residential and light commercial market by responding to inquiries promptly, qualifying opportunities, following up consistently, and helping customers move from initial interest to completed order.
- Develop and maintain educational resources, introductory emails, forms, sizing guidance, and other tools that help customers and partners understand RMS’ residential and light commercial offerings.
Department Management and Account Organization
- Manage day-to-day activity within the residential and light commercial department, including incoming inquiries, quote requests, follow-ups, house accounts, distributor relationships, and active opportunities.
- Organize and document house accounts and distributor relationships so pricing structures, discount levels, account expectations, and communication responsibilities are clear to the RMS team.
- Communicate efficiently with customers and accounts regarding pricing, lead times, order status, freight expectations, required information, and next steps.
- Improve department processes, documentation, and communication practices so the department can operate consistently and be transitioned smoothly as staffing needs change.
Operations, Inventory, Freight, and Logistics
- Work with operations to determine appropriate inventory levels for residential and light commercial products, packages, and commonly requested components.
- Assist with freight estimates and coordinate with RMS shipping personnel to support nationwide and site-specific logistics requirements.
- Understand basic logistics considerations including equipment size, delivery method, site access, lead times, carrier requirements, and shipping constraints.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure orders are processed accurately and customers receive clear expectations regarding fulfillment and delivery.
Regulatory Awareness and Industry Knowledge
- Maintain general knowledge of state and local rainwater harvesting, plumbing, water reuse, and treatment requirements, with particular attention to Virginia requirements and Virginia Department of Health standards.
- Apply regulatory awareness when discussing system applications, potable versus non-potable use, treatment needs, and documentation requirements with clients and project teams.
- Stay informed on industry best practices, product updates, and applicable standards related to residential and light commercial rainwater harvesting systems.
Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of plumbing, filtration, pumping, controls, and treatment concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, fixture counts, and project information.
- Ability to create clear estimates, proposals, written specifications, and technical schematics.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to educate technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent organization, follow-up, and account management skills.
- Ability to coordinate sales, technical support, drafting, operations, shipping, and management teams.
- Comfortable presenting virtually and in person to homeowners, contractors, engineers, architects, distributors, and representative groups.
- Working knowledge of CRM processes, quote tracking, sales follow-up, and customer documentation preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
