Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Established in 1985 by Frank Hawkins Kenan, the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise is a nonpartisan business policy think tank affiliated with the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. The nonprofit institute and its affiliated centers convene leaders from the private sector, academic community and government to build a greater understanding of how entrepreneurship, economic development and global commerce can work for the public good. The institute leverages best-in-class research to develop market-based solutions to today’s most complex economic challenges. In doing so, the institute aims to support businesses and policies that better the lives of people in North Carolina, across the country and around the world.
Position Summary
Analysts provide technical assistance to community leaders, business owners, policymakers, and other organizations to create good jobs and new wealth in economically distressed communities. Since 2012, analysts have helped hundreds of NCGrowth clients across the U.S.
Analysts are hired as part-time, temporary employees and are enrolled graduate and PhD students in Business Administration, Planning, Industrial Engineering, Agriculture, Information Sciences, Policy and other disciplines. This is a remote position; however, we are seeking analysts to travel to clients 2-3 times over the course of the projects.
Examples of Past Projects: IMPAN analysis; feasibility studies; Data visualization; Forestry and farm management plans; Manufacturing process improvement; Creating financial models, business plans, marketing plans, SOPs, HR policies.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Management Preferences
Experience or knowledge in any of the following: Agribusiness, Forestry, Natural Resource Management; Business, Economics, Entrepreneurship; Marketing and Communications; Finance and Accounting; Social Media, Digital Marketing; Engineering, Manufacturing; Library Science; Statistics; or Learning Sciences
The minimum salary is $25.00 and the max salary is $25.00.
