The Financial Controller provides strategic and operational leadership for the firm’s financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. This position is responsible for building and leading a high-performing finance team, establishing clear expectations, driving accountability, and delivering results that support the firm’s business objectives. Additionally, the Financial Controller must maintain a thorough understanding of the firm’s accounting operations and be willing to actively participate in key accounting and reporting functions when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage cash flow and financial planning to support the firm's strategic goals.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute financial strategies.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance and support as needed and through regular meetings.
- Coordinate with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits.
- Monitor and manage the firm's financial performance, including profitability and cost control.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, accounts payable, and benefits (401k).
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, and financial management.
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements, managing budgeting processes, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience managing and developing a team.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with financial systems and the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and drive results.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
