WGA, established in 1993 is a full-service civil engineering and land surveying firm that has served the Mother Lode region. WGA provides professional services to cities, counties, special districts, and private clients throughout Amador, Alpine, Calaveras, Tuolumne, and San Joaquin Counties.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Project Manager role based in San Andreas, CA. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of both public works, and private development projects from proposal through closeout. This is a key role in a tight-knit team where you will have direct impact on project outcomes, client relationships, and the continued growth of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Manage multiple concurrent projects, including civil site design, grading plans, utility design, boundary/topographic surveys, and entitlement support.
Lead public works projects such as road improvements, bridge replacements, water and wastewater systems, stormwater management, ADA compliance upgrades, and other municipal infrastructure initiatives funded by local, state, or federal sources (e.g., Caltrans, USDA Rural Development).
Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans, and monitor progress
Serve as primary point of contact for clients, local agencies (Counties, Special Districts, Caltrans), subconsultants, and contractors.
Coordinate with engineers, drafters/designers, and field survey crews to ensure quality deliverables and adherence to project timelines.
Prepare proposals, contracts, and fee estimates; negotiate changes and additional services as needed.
Track project financial performance, including billing, collections, and profitability.
Conduct regular project status meetings and maintain clear documentation.
Support business development by identifying opportunities with existing and new clients, including public agencies in the region.
Oversee project closeout, including as-builts, final reports, and client handoff.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of project management experience in civil engineering, land surveying, or land development, with demonstrated experience managing public works projects preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, or a related field (preferred).
Strong knowledge of California public works contracting, permitting, and agency coordination (Public Works, Caltrans, environmental compliance, grant-funded projects, etc.), and land development processes.
Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and client expectations in a small-firm setting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with clients, and local government officials.
