Position Summary: The Quality Control Mine Planner/Safety Assistant is responsible for overseeing and coordinating mine planning and quality assurance functions within wet frac sand operations. This role ensures raw sand production meets customer specifications, while optimizing mine sequencing, operational efficiency, and long-term resource recovery. The Mine Planner collaborates with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to guarantee compliance with safety, environmental, and production standards. As part of the safety assistant, this roll will assist the EHS Manager with safety compliance around the site and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Mine Planning & Scheduling

• Develop short-and long-term mine plans for wet plant operations.
• Monitor resource availability and plan extraction sequences to maximize quality and efficiency.
• Adjust mine plans as needed to meet daily production requirements and long-term resource goals.

Quality Control

• Test, monitor, and evaluate wet frac sand to ensure it meets API/ISO and customer quality standards.
• Implement sampling and testing protocols for particle size distribution, in turbidity, silt/clay content, and moisture levels.
• Track trends in quality results and provide corrective action plans when specifications are at risk.

Operational Support

• Coordinate with Wet Plant Supervisors and Operations to align mine feed with plant production demands.
• Communicate potential quality or production issues in real time to reduce downtime and off-spec product.
• Partner with maintenance teams to identify bottlenecks or material handling issues affecting sand quality.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Maintain detailed records of mine planning, test results, and corrective actions.
• Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports on quality compliance, yield, and resource recovery.
• Recommend process improvements based on data trends.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure mine planning and extraction activities comply with environmental permits, MSHA regulations, and company policies.
• Promote and enforce company safety programs across mining and wet plant operations.
• Conduct site inspections to confirm compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Verify crews are completing environmental and safety reports daily.
• Assist with training and maintaining training files.
• Work with Plant Manager and EHS Manager to ensure safety matters are addressed in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of experience in mine planning, quality control, or mineral processing (frac sand preferred)
• Previous involvement with mining/gravel pits, etc.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

• Ability to work in an outdoor mine and wet plant environment with exposure to varying weather conditions.
• Regularly required to walk, stand, and climb in operational areas.
• Must wear PPE and comply with MSHA safety standards at all times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
