We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Technical Manager / Quality Manager to lead our metal finishing operations and quality systems. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in electroplating and metal finishing processes, particularly silver, tin, and nickel plating, along with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes including stamping and machining.
This leadership role is responsible for process control, quality assurance, technical problem-solving, continuous improvement, customer support, and regulatory compliance within a high-precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize metal finishing processes including silver, tin, and nickel plating operations.
- Develop, maintain, and improve quality management systems and procedures.
- Investigate and resolve plating, adhesion, corrosion, cosmetic, and dimensional quality issues.
- Provide technical support to production, engineering, customers, and suppliers.
- Establish process controls, specifications, and inspection standards.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Monitor plating chemistry, process performance, and product quality metrics.
- Support new product launches, qualification activities, and customer approvals.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to improve productivity, yield, and process capability.
- Ensure compliance with customer, industry, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Train and mentor production and quality personnel.
- Participate in audits, certifications, and customer visits.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent experience – Bachelor’s degree preferred but not a hard requirement).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in metal finishing, electroplating, or surface treatment related operations to include stamping or machining.
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Silver plating
- Tin plating
- Nickel plating
- Surface preparation and cleaning processes
- Experience working with base materials including:
- Copper and copper alloys
- Brass
- Steel
- Stainless steel
- Other engineered metals
- Experience with stamped and/or machined components.
- Strong understanding of quality systems, process control, SPC, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Experience leading corrective and preventive action programs.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Solid communication skills for dealing directly with customers on technical and quality related issues.
Preferred
- Experience with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or similar quality systems.
- Knowledge of power distribution industry. Automotive, aerospace, electronics, or industrial manufacturing requirements.
- Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or quality certifications.
- Experience with laboratory testing and metallurgical analysis.
- Ability to read and understand customer prints
